Currently it is reporting temp for the deep freezer. If it goes blank again I will check like you said. My bedroom fridge battery was reporting 45% yesterday and right now it's at 38%. I just checked everything looks good except for the patio switch signal. Even though there is no line it does seem to work. The patio switch is next to the deep freezer so its only like 6 feet from HS4 laptop.

jbfoster Is it possible that the value of the device was outside the defined range for the temperature? Because that HS shows it a a blank value. You can check the real value by going the the property of the device, tab Status/Graphics, Select the temperature feature and on the bottom part under the range settings you will find the set value. If this is out of range of the already set value it will show as blank. Let me know if it was, so I could adjust the possible range? Check below image for a sample.

I have one in the freezer here too. What I noticed in the past is that reports of battery values go down fast, but stick at more or less 45% for a long time. And then they keep reporting normal. My device is now on its second round of batteries. The first set lasted for about a year. Do not remove them because they show up with a low value, it will stabalize.
No problem with routing here, enough lights in the kitchen to support the device.

In my case the fridge is mostly plastics on the inside, outside is a thin alumium (I think). Signals are strong enough.

I might replace all the batteries and set the sensors near the same spot but not in the fridge or freezer on a couple to see if those batteries last longer.

Sounds like you got it covered with setting up a mesh, but in that deConz map you're showing the Deep Freezer is not reporting in, which is not unusual since they only report when there's a change. And I'd imagine the freezer temp is pretty rock steady.

Maybe they just don't like extreme cold like you said?

I have my HS4 system in the living room. I have a repeater in the hallway about 12 feet from HS4. From that repeater I have another repeater in my bedroom about 20 feet. I am using Tradfri repeaters from IKEA.

Bedroom fridge is about 8 feet from the bedroom repeater.
Deep freezer is about 6 to 8 feet from HS4 laptop.
Fridge in the kitchen is about 15 feet from HS4 laptop.
Outside temp is on the front porch about 20 feet from HS4 Laptop.
The patio switch is next to the deep freezer.

Yeah, that's not normal for those sensors. What I suspect is happening is those are having to do transmission retries multiple times because of low signal strength do to the metal enclosures of the appliances. Do you have ZigBee repeaters/routers like a Hues bulb, plug-in AC wall socket, etc near those nodes? If not then you might want to invest in some.

Batteries were all new about a month or two a go. Here is a screen a screen shot of my battery devices from my phone. The ones in the fridge and freezer are really going down fast except the temp sensor outside which is still 100%. I guess they don't like the cold.

The only thing I'll caution is those battery readings. Have you ever had to change the battery in that sensor? The reason I ask is they usually use lithium coin cell batteries that read about 100% until they start to drop off dramatically. Plus you have it in a freezer which I'm guessing has a metal enclosure, which will hamper the signal some. I plan on using these myself in my fridge and freezer, but i'm going to make sure there's a zigbee repeater located next to the appliance.

    Glad it started working again.
