New User - keep deCONZ running? Extend distance?

    Hi,
Have had a Combee2 USB for all of 12 hours and finally managed to get it running on HS4 / Windows 10. (I did eventaully read the instructions!) Have managed to add two Aqara door sensors without any issues.

Have two queries at the moment - no doubt more will arrive!

1 Do I need to keep the deCONZ app (v2.13.4) running all the time? If yes, will putting the exe file into the start up folder be sufficient for when / if there is a power cut and the UPS dies?

2 As the house is quite solid (no stud walls) is there a suggested repeater that can be used to extend the range? I would like to get a powered socket / plug here in the UK - does it matter which make / model is selected or is all Zigbee the same?

    Thansk for any help.

    1) Yes, I have it running from the start-up folder.

    2) You can purchase a repeater from Ikea: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/tradfri...ater-80424255/ however for £2 more you can get a 13A switched outlet https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/tradfri...tlet-00364477/ which also acts as a repeater. Remember the more powered devices you have improves the deCONZ 'mesh'.

Re your comment about powered devices, would a "no neutral" light switch as a repeater?

I have some of the IKEA plugs as repeaters they were easy local shopping to get. I would not recommend them since you have no local control over them. For a couple dollars/pounds more these are much better (I have the U.S. versions).

And do not forget, normally every zigbee light is a router as well (do not use Sengled) So adding a light will extend the network as well

TC1 the product you posted doesn't seem to be available on Amazon US.

I assume these would work just as well?

Sure they are, just search on the model number:
                  https://www.amazon.com/SONOFF-Zigbee...dp/B082PSKRSP/

You don't want the round ones, there's a chance you can't use two in the same outlet. The Sonoffs are designed to be stacked with no problems.

Thanks, I entered the text but didn't pop up but the ones you recommended came in on a generic Zigbee plug search.

I'll preemptively order a couple while I have a cart still waiting for checkout at Amazon.
