    Error's with release 4.0.8.2

    Hi Wim,

Since i upgrade to the last version (4.0.8.2) i'm getting two error's:

    1st happens every 5 minutes
JowiHue Error Error: (Groupcheck): Error on grouprow Bancada : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
JowiHue Error Error: (Groupcheck): Error on grouprow Candeeiro Bar : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
JowiHue Error Error: (Groupcheck): Error on grouprow Candeeiro de Pé : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    2nd happens every 20 minutes
JowiHue Error Error: (InitialSensors):Error in step check on refreshrate: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The Group's are all from my Philips Bridge V1. HS4 Pro Edition 4.2.13.0 (Windows)

    Edit:

I first tried to downgrade to the previous version but the errors persist.
After thinking that the problem could be related to the change in the API of the Philips groups, I deleted the groups from the plugin. The groups error disappeared but the second one didn't and I found that the problem was even worse.

The plugin does not update any feature of the devices connected to the Philips Bridge, if for example I press the OFF button on one of the lights, on the Homeseer Devices page, I get the following error in the log:

Error: (SetDeviceByUserRequest):SDBUR setstate off start-----Object variable or With block variable not set.

I get similar errors with the plugin crashing and restarting itself. Not sure what to do at this point as nothing has changed in my setup.

It's been a while since I updated HS4, updating to the current release of 4.2.16.0 seems to have resolved my issues. Will post in this thread if otherwise: LINK TO THREAD

I don't think my problem has to do with the HS4 version, because these only started happening after the plugin update. And I wasn't thinking of upgrading to HS4 either, the version I'm currently using 4.2.13.0 has been very stable on my system. But your opinion got me thinking and maybe next weekend, with more time, I'll try to update to see if it has any influence (which I repeat, I have many doubts)

As I always make a backup of the Homeseer HS4 folder before updating the plugins, I was able to recover and have my system stable again. For me, version 4.0.8.2 is not functional with the Philips Bridge V1, the plugin does not recognize the Bridge and cannot find the lights connected to it, although they work perfectly with the Philips app. I will stick with the previous version until Wim has time to see this situation.

nunoary you make valid points, I am happy to report that it's been almost 24 hours without issues after doing the HS4 update. Just to note, I am on the Philips Hue Bridge/Hub v2 since the v1 stopped receiving updates in 2020.

Yes, unfortunately I have no other option to control my seven dimmable plugs from Philips. These plugs only work with the V1 (pré-Zigbee) and are excellent because they work with any type of light bulb and are dimmable. In the European market there are still no dimmable plugs that are reliable and I already have these since 2010.

            Philips LivingWhites, Dimmable plug-in.

              Nuno,

Did you remove the bridge device by any chance? Existing bridges in HS4 should not stop functioning. One of the changes Philips Hue went through last year was excludng UPNP and moving to MDNS. This change was done in the plugin somewhere last year. I am pretty sure that will exclude GEN1 bridges to be added new, but existing bridge devices should still work. But if you removed the bridge device, then this would explain what you are seeing.

If you did not remove the bridge device, then I have no clue yet what goes wrong. I am kind of hoping you made a trace with the non functioning 4.0.8.2 plugin? If you have it, please send it to me?

              Thanks,

              Wim

                Hi Wim,

No, i didn't remove the bridge. Unfortunately I don't have the trace log, but when I have some time I'll try the update again and make the log. I confess that during all these years that I have been using deCONZ with your plugin, this was the error that worried me the most.

Nuno, In the latest version of the plugin I made some changes, hoping the GEN1 version of the bridge would return to normal functioning.
The challenge is that I no longer have the GEN1 bridge available, so I am here hoping you could try and test it? Nu rush, only when you have some time available?

                  Thanks,

                  Wim

I did what the user HS14 suggested and apparently it worked.

First I updated HS4 to version 4.2.16 and confirmed for a few days that everything was working fine. Then I updated the plugin to version 4.0.8.2 and the errors didn't come back, after about 48 hours of running.

With the GEN1 of the bridge I only have a small problem, when I click on the "ON" button on the device page the plug responds and turns on as it should but the device on the HS4 Devices page changes immediately to the ON state and after about 1 second it switches to OFF, and after 10 seconds turns back to the correct state of ON.

After a few days running without problems I confirm that this problem is solved.

But if you can do something about these plugs (Philips LWL001) I would really appreciate it. It only happens with these very old plugs. I don't understand why it changes the status to OFF and after a few seconds (10s or more) it changes to the correct state of ON.
