Can we get more control of Axis Gear?

Not sure if this is possible but is there a way to get more control of the Axis Gear without needing Axis to get involved?
They moved on from Gear, actually moved on from the name Axis also, so I know they won't help.
I not sure if they would need to get involved since the Gear already supports more features than HS shows but I'm not very familiar with Zigbee.
Basically, if I include Gear into HS through smartthings, I get this:



With the HS plugin this:



The difference is the "Window Shade" feature. The HS version shows "Shades" but that's the "Switch" feature and I renamed it to get "Open/Closed" which I renamed from "On/Off".

The "Window Shades" feature has a preset position option whereas the "Switch" option doesn't.





Along with the extra status options. (ie opening, closing etc.)

The reason I'm asking for this, beside just having the full control from the device, is without the "Window Shade" feature, you get stuck with a 'last position' open.
ie If the blinds are open 40%, and then closed from there, the next time they are opened it will only go to 40% when they should go to fully open.

I just got one a few days ago and personally I'd like to see a "STOP" option, alongside the open/close controls. That way I could map the controls to a nearby switch and have the user be able to stop the shades at the desired position.

I get around the "last position" issue by just specifying the "level" I want in the event.
