Are you planning to do an integration with the Nest Plugin and Google Assistant?

    Hi Spud,

I updated my Nest App to use a Google Account so that I could add a user for the Home/Away feature not realizing it would break the HomeSeer Nest Plugin...now I'm stuck with 5 thermostat's that do not respond with Nest Plugin.

I was wondering if you are going to do an integration with a new Nest Plugin and Google Nest? I can wait and I really need a new Nest Plugin since Google Nest says there is no way back.

If you are planning on doing a new Nest Plugin, do you have a time line as to when it might be done?

I need this information to know whether I need to scrap my Nest thermostats and go with some other thermostats that will work with HomeSeer or wait for a new Nest Plugin.

    Thanks,
    Garyb

Google has not published any new API for Nest so far.
When/If an API is released, then yes, HomeSeer or I, will probably work on a new plugin (likely to be HS4 only though)

According to Google Nest that API will be available in early 2020.
You probably all ready have this information but here is a link to what you have to do as a developer interested in their API.

        https://developers.google.com/nest/device-access

Sounds like I can wait for a new Google Nest Plugin to come out, if it were to come out in HS4 in late spring.

Any news on whether this is likely to happen? I bought the Nest plugin about 1 month before they killed of WWN

It looks like the Nest API is available for developers per request. Any idea when it will be implemented? https://developers.google.com/nest/device-access

There is no API released, I subscribed to this link 1 year ago, no news since then.

Oh, appologies, i thought they released it already...... it is a shame you can't control the most popular thermostat with Homeseer. you would say by now Google is delaying it on purpose (whatever the purpose is) cause i can't understand a giant like google can't come up with an API for so many years...

A new one that enables full control of Nest devices by 3rd party system is going to be available this year according to a recent developer webinar: https://eventsonair.withgoogle.com/e...alk=amer-talk1 Take a look around 11 minutes in to this video where they talk about the new capabilities in the "Device Access" program.

They even used the example of a 3rd party temp sensor being used by the Nest to control the HVAC, as well as a security system controlling what the Nest's settings are. So seems pretty clear it's bidirectional control interactions, not just Google assistant telling everything what to do. Finally!

They are also doing a lot of work to make local control happen, even for non lighting systems.

Lots of good info in these videos: https://eventsonair.withgoogle.com/e...rt-home-summit HS needs to pass certain security audits by accredited partners, but I suspect thats already being done for the existing Google home integration.

                    thx

pleeeeze keep us posted... I see all the plug-in departments in the security areas amongst others are starting to drop off because of the API change out last year for security.... I'm trying to build a alarm system for my home with my HS4 pie and can't make a decision because the two best that I found simple safe, nest are having issues getting a plug and resolved. I wish you the best and added my two cents so I'm on the email list thank you.

There is an API now. This link here: https://developers.google.com/nest/d...s/registration is the start to getting access into the Nest thermostat. Home Assistant has a way to make this work, there's no reason why Homeseer can't.

On the fence about buying the Nest thermostat, only thing holding me back is a HomeSeer plug-in. Any chance this will happen?
