That's why I suggested just having a list that users can go through and select to add themselves.
It will require a bit of work - the plugin architecture is designed for easily adding new providers, so the HS devices are separated from the providers (each provider is basically a plugin). separation of concerns (SoC)

But I'll see what I can do.

      Okay. Sounds good. Thanks!

I'm silly The "hourly precipitation " is actually the definition of the Precipitation - so the device is just Precipitation.

        For Ecowitt provider:

So does that mean that Ambient Weather isn't sharing precipitation "rate"? I thought that precipitation was "rate" as it's listed as: 0.000 in/hr.

I show max of hourlyrainin and rainratein - because different devices report one or another, in you log you don't have rainratein. And the definition is the same.

Okay. So if I understand you correctly, you are reporting the max of either hourlyRain and rainRate because devices can report one or the other and the Ambient Weather Station isn't reporting rate? That sucks. I guess that clears up what I'm getting and what I was hoping for. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I'll have to make some minor tweaks to my tablet.

But do you see rainratein in the log? And what's the difference between them two? They both are rain per hour?

I don't see rainratein in the log. I thought precipitation was rain rate because it was listed as: "in/hr" and the console of my PWS has rate listed as "in/hr"

precipitation is rain rate, I don't understand what's the issue?

Here's what's available in the Ambient Weather tablet:
                      Hourly Rain
                      Daily Rain
                      Weekly Rain
                      Monthly Rain
                      Yearly Rain
                      Event
                      Rate

Here's what's apparently available in AKWeather:
                      Precipitation = Rate
                      Precipitation Day = Daily Rain
                      Precipitation Week = Weekly Rain
                      Precipitation Month = Monthly Rain
                      Precipitation Year = Yearly Rain
                      Precipitation Event = Event
                      ????? = Hourly Rain

As you can see, there is one device missing from AKWeather that is available from Ambient Weather.

The confusion seems to be whether "Perception" is "rate" or "hourly rain" and if as you say it is "rate" then we are missing hourly rain (unless you are saying that hourly rain is not available as a separate device).

Hopefully this better articulates the confusion and missing info.

I can't find the exact definition of Rain Rate vs Hourly Rain in the AW user manual. Both Export data and Calibration table don't have hourly rain.

                        But Rain Increment Definitions says:
                        • Rain Rate is defined as the rainfall in the last 10 minutes, multiplied by 6 (10 minutes x 6 = 1 hour). This is also referred to as instantaneous rain per hour.
                        • Hourly Rain is defined as the rainfall in the last hour.
So Rain Rate is a current extrapolation of 10 munities rain, and Hourly rain is physically measured value.
                        Export data Calibration table

Ver 4.0.2.50 (BETA) - Added Precipitation/Hr device (Accuweather, AmbientWeather, Buienradar, CanWeather, Ecowitt, KNMI, Meteobridge, Netatmo, NOAA2, WeatherFlow, WeatherLink)

The Precipitation vs Precipitation/Hr definition differs between providers, so please keep an eye and let me know of any issues.

I see. That makes sense. Thanks for researching this and removing the confusion. Also, thanks for the updates!

The problem I'm running into is I've had about 14 inches of rain since October and have yet to see the hourly device be created. We don't get a lot of rain in Los Angeles, and I now might have to wait up to a year before I have another chance. Would it be possible to list all the devices that don't automatically get created and have the option to select them and have them manually created? Perhaps in each location's setting page?

As always thanks for your time and consideration.
BTW, it's really provider dependant - some providers report 0 for rain when there's no precipitation, some just don't bother reporting rain at all. Same for UV at nignt.

If the value is present, but it's 0 - I still create the device.

alexbk66 I have noticed that the "Feature Name" (number in brackets) does not coincide with the Device Address in list view. See pic. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. This is the Ecowitt GW1000.

Also I was wondering how we know which device is tied to which battery since they only have a number in brackets as well. Battery numbers seem to match Device Address okay unlike first pic. See pic Thanks
