Ecowitt New - Cannot connect to remote server

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I have an update that may help others..

As feared, the ecowitt gw1100 does not work on a wifi mesh. It also appears to fail if you use wide-band or 2 channel 2.4 gHz. It doesn't even connect to 5 gHz wifi, of course.

Rather than crippling my entire wifi network, I dug out an older wifi router and set it up as Access Point, wired into my network. I then disabled 5G and wide-band 2.4G, and connected my EcoWitt to the special Access Point wifi network.

And it worked using the Ecowitt provider using UDP.. Finally!

Anyhow, I can't mark this as CLOSED, but it seems there's an answer.

Ok, that explains why the UDP discovery wasn't working for me - I have Netgear Orbi, and GW1000 and GW2000. But I'm still able to enter the IP address manually - and it works.

The UDP is only used to find the gateway automatically. Which is kind-of re-inventing the wheel as most devices these days use mDNS (Zeroconf).
