Ambient WS-2000 "Feels Like" vs. Plug-in

I'm sure this is addressed somewhere here, but my Google-fu is failing me.

First time I noticed this because I normally use my tablets using HSTouch to look at the weather info, but today I just noticed that the weather station's display shows Feels-Like = 65.7

Your plug-in shows 68.2. The Dewpoint is also slightly off.

After turning Trace logging on and looking at the data, I'm assuming you calculate those numbers?

    Code:

Really not that big of a deal, but my OCD won't let me not ask the question: I'm assuming that the weather station doesn't provide the Feels-Like data, so there's no way to get them to match?

Yes, if the provider doesn't have "Feels-Like" or "Dewpoint" - I calculate the values in the plugin.

The calculation factors are configurable on the main Settings page, there's the link to the forum page for the formula, but it's not very clear, I need to add more info.

I don't currently own this weather station, but it is on my short-list for consideration. I'm just curious why the plug-in would need to calculate "Feels-like" when the Ambient API provides that data?

Thanks, that helps - will try it out when I get home from work.

I think I looked at every weather station out there, and this one seemed to have the best value for what it provides at this price point.

While the weather station's display shows the feels-like temperature, I suspect it calculates it in the display unit, but doesn't broadcast it like it does with temperature, humidity, wind data, etc.

I could be wrong though, but I am sure Alex can elaborate/clarify.

The API you linked is for the "Server" provider, and I do use the values from the server in AmbientWeather provider.

AmbientWeatherLocal doesn't have "Feels-like" or "Dewpoint"

BTW, jgreenberg01 - it's a good idea to add second Location and select AmbientWeather provider - then you can have the server calculated values.

I personally like the new Ecowitt WittBoy https://shop.ecowitt.com/en-au/products/wittboy. It' newer technology - Piezoelectric rain gauge and Ultrasonic anemometer.

FYI - AW PWS are made by same manufacturer (Fine Offset Electronics)

Thank you for that, excellent tip. Having options is a good thing!
