Connecting a MIDI Controller to HS4-Pi

While this isn't really HS related this seems like the best place to ask this question. Does anyone have any experience with getting a MIDI controller connected to a Pi, specifically, HS4-Pi? I have a Behringer X-Touch Mini that I want to try to use along with Node-RED to control lights and trigger events.

When I connect it, I see a /dev/midi1 device show up but the MIDI nodes in NR don't see it. Any idea on where to start looking?

For those reading this down the road, it was a permission problem. Isn't it always?

The user running Node-RED has to be in group "audio".

Assuming user "homeseer" the command is 'sudo usermod -aG audio homeseer' and then a restart of Node-RED.
