HS-489 - Request for HS4 to run as a service on windows

It would be nice if we didn't have to deal with the interactive startup.

    thx

No, in its' current form it can not be run as a service on Windows. Works great as a daemon om Linux.

There are a few ways to start HS automatically. Is that what you are looking for?

Or you could use a third-party solution as I do/have with both HS2 and HS3. I intend on creating a HS4 service with Fire Daemon when I get going with HS4. This solution works flawlessly for me.
HS3PRO 3.0.0.500 as a Fire Daemon service, Windows 2016 Server Std Intel Core i5 PC HTPC Slim SFF 4GB, 120GB SSD drive, WLG800, RFXCom, TI103,NetCam, UltraNetcam3, BLBackup, CurrentCost 3P Rain8Net, MCsSprinker, HSTouch, Ademco Security plugin/AD2USB, JowiHue, various Oregon Scientific temp/humidity sensors, Z-Net, Zsmoke, Aeron Labs micro switches, Amazon Echo Dots, WS+, WD+ ... on and on.

What interactive startup are you referring to? I launch HS3 with a delayed start application and there are no interactions needed for it to startup and be fully running.

Seriously, here we are in 2020, and Homeseer is still not able to run as a service? It can't be that complicated to do this. Yes, I know there are ways HS can be run without me having to do anything, but to run natively as a service should have been something that was higher up on the desired feature list.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just a little disappointed if this is indeed the case with HS4.

As has been discussed many times, HS4 will not run as a native service on Windows. There are workarounds and there is a 3rd party programs that will allow it to run as a service.

I understand that. It is still disappointing that this highly anticipated "Upgrade" does not do something as simple as run as a service.

Same here. It was requested in the bugs section by a couple of people (including me), but got rejected.

I agree that it should run as a background service on Windows.

This is a basic feature that should be included without any need for a work around.

Post it in the bugs section. Maybe if many more people report it, they might see they're wrong on this one.

+1 for running as a system service. It’s a security issue. I should not have to be logged into my machine to run HS4.
