⛔ EVENT "AND IF" not working.

It seems like any of my AND IF are ignored.

This one always runs regardless of "Luminance Night" and the time.

This one runs any time of day, not just nightime like its supposed to.

Is your first Event running on its own, or is it being called from another Event. The reason I ask, is because it should work when run by it’s own Trigger. I have thoroughly tested HS4 and have found it to honor Conditions. If the Event is called from another Event, it is possible for the Conditions to be ignored.

Your second Event has 2 triggers. The first has no Condition, so it will cause the Event to run any time Susan Home becomes On. The nighttime Condition only applies to the secondary a Trigger (Tom Home). If you want the nighttime Condition honored, it must be assigned individually to each Trigger. Read here.

      Thank you rprade.

HS4 was an upgrade from my HS3, so these events came from the HS3 were I "believe" they were working.

Yes, they are both individual events.

I understand your comment on event 2, I will make the change and monitor the results. Thank you.

I will also take a closer look at event 1 in my logs.

      Thanks again,
      Tom

I have to say, I’m really struggling with the new UI changes. Don’t take this the wrong way, I’m all for updating it and I understand the goal of the new UI....I just don’t see how it’s an improvement on the HS3 UI.

In HS3, the second event that the OP posted, the “Or If” would clearly be separated with a space from the first “If”, making it a little more obvious where the problem is in the event. With all the extra white space in this new UI, adding more space in between each trigger just doesn’t seem practical to me. I would speculate that a new user to HS would be completely lost with this UI....maybe I’m completely wrong....

Agreed, HS3 more clearly defines the grouping of Triggers and their affiliated Conditions, Even at that, I think even HS3 could stand some graphical improvement to make the grouping even more clear. Instead, it is now not clear at all.

Yes, HS3 could use graphical improvement. At least in HS3 I could expand two events that I was working on at the same time and see both simultaneously, with HS4 I have to use two separate tabs in my browser? I guess I’m feeling a little disappointed.....

You can use the legacy Event management in HS4 through [HomeSeer IP]/Events (instead of events.html). The legacy page does allow two or more events to be open at once.

Agreed, at first, I REALLY disliked the new UI. But probably only because I had to re-learn it. In trying to stabilize the new setup, I'm in the UI almost every day for a week, so I'm getting used to it now ;-)

I have no issue learning a new interface, in fact all my life I’ve been one that loves new tech. So learning something new is fun for me. I plan to give the new UI every opportunity and I know the HS guys are working hard on this so I don’t want to be discouraging. I just think it could be designed differently so that it accommodates those who use mobile devices but yet still retains and improves upon the HS3 design.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, just see this as a good example how the new UI is making things more confusing instead of an improved upon design.

Yeah, I’ve seen posts about this...but if the HS guys are going to put a lot of effort just to have users use the legacy design because it’s more useful... I know at some point I’m going to need to move to HS4 and I really care about the product so just voicing an opinion.

I also would like to help make HS4 as useful as possible. That said I really (REALLY) hope the legacy pages are maintained and updated because they are much more to MY liking. I see no reason why the two user experiences cannot coexist. The new responsive GUI is probably going to make the product more appealing for new basic to modest users, but power users will find it wastes too much real estate and severely hampers multitasking. The legacy pages are demonstrably more efficient for my purposes. Understand this is from someone who has enough desktop real estate (6880 x 1440) to have 5 or 6 full sized browsers open

Since this was already hijacked when I read it...

If the legacy pages work within HS4, there's really nothing new in HS4 except for some native support of other protocols. Too bad the Hue and Smartthings PIs probably can't work within HS3. Now that would be a major step.

It seems that we have to make it look different rather than we have to make it different. We have to make it look better, as opposed to we have to make it better. Well it looks different but it's not any better.

Understand that the "legacy" pages are not just imports from HS3, they also had to be changed to accommodate the changes in HS4's structure. In their case, they look similar, but are different. There are definitely some fundamental and substantial changes to HS4 under the hood. HS4 handles the parent/child device relationships differently, the separate Z-Wave database will be going away and the HomeSeer database is no longer SQLite. While the GUI is being discussed, these behind the scenes changes are substantial.

I think one of the reasons it doesn't "feel" that different is because of a nod to making the transition to HS4 much more seamless than the HS2>HS3 transition.

I agree, I can definitely tell that the behind the scenes changes have made HS4 a lot more responsive, this is something I noticed right away. I think for me, it’s more about making sure the design doesn’t move so much towards the mobile design, just make it mobile friendly but keep some of the awesome design features/functionality of HS3.
