  • Wi-Fi Mesh with z-wave repeating capabilities?

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this -
I am looking for a wi-fi mesh system to cover a metal building 14k sq ft and it would be great if it would act as a z wave repeater also....does this system exist?

    Thanks-
    Jason

No. WiFi is at 2.4 or 5 GHz. Z-Wave is at 908.42 MHz. You will need to use separate Z-Wave repeaters or Z-Wave devices which act as repeaters.

Any suggestions on wi-fi mesh hardware and why?
Should the z wave repeater be a certain distance away from the wi-fi router?

I cannot help you with the WiFi mesh hardware. There are a lot of choices. I chose Ubiquiti UniFi and am completely happy, but there are others as well. The proximity of a Z-Wave device to9 a WiFi AP has no bearing since they are using completely different frequencies. I wrote about my system here, but didn't touch much on meshing. Ubiquiti handles meshing and handoff of APs very well and automatically. You can fine tune the configuration, but it works just fine out of the box.
