    Feature Request

    DNS Monitoring

Is there a way you add the ability to monitor an internal DNS server. I monitor by host name which requires the use of an interal DNS server to resolve the names...if the DNS server fails then there is no point monitoring all the host names I would love to be able to restart the DNS service.

    Is this possible?

    Cheers,

    Darren

When you are not able to resolve hostnames, does the DNS service itself fail? DNS is a protocol that uses both UDP and TCP port 53. Try setting up a device within UltraMon that will monitor TCP port 53 to see if it triggers when your DNS fails. If it does, then that may be your solution. If not, then let me know so we can come up with plan B.

Yes...its a monitor that when DNS lookups fail to be able to trigger an event to restart the process.

I will try your suggestion and report back.

      Thanks
