    InitEtherRain Conversion from string

Michael, I upgraded to v2.19.1.0 today and received a strange error during installation. Is this error likely to impact my normal operations?
Mar-25 11:53:17 AM mcsSprinklers InitEtherRain Conversion from string "" to type 'Short' is not valid.
Incidentally, I use the Rain8net, not an EtherRain.

Also, I just received an email from mcsSprinklers informing me that my API key was not found. When I go into the configuration, it shows (all dots) that there is a key there and it worked fine in the prior version. Let me know what I need to do please.

Michael, when I went into weather setup, the Weather Source after the upgrade was shown as None (even though I was getting the WUG keynotfound error). When I changed to use WUG, I received the keynotfound error (below). I then reentered my WU API key and received the

The error in your first post was fixed in 2.19.1.1. It does not affect operation other than showing in the log. It is at http://mcsSprinklers.com/mcsSprinklers_21911.zip if you want to remove the log error.

WeatherUnderground has eliminated their free API. I left the WUG code until this settles out as I think the direction IBM is going is to provide free keys for those who do data uploads. My recommendation now is to use one of the other services. OpenWeatherMap is what I use. APIXU is the last one I added.

Ok, but how do I get rid of the log error message for WUG. It still occurs about every 2 minutes. I got the free OWM API key, entered it and selected the Use Open Weather Map option box but I still get the WUG error.

It is telling you about the forecast source. I suspect you still have WU setup for the forecast source which is setup just below what you are showing in the screenshot.

The zip link I gave was for a patch file. It did not change the parent .exe that HS sees. If you want the full updater file then it is at http://mcsSprinklers.com/mcsSprinkle...19_1_1_HS3.zip. Extract the HSPI_...exe file.

Ok, thanks Michael. I switched to AccuWeather and I don't have (any) error messages. Is that a valid alternate forecast resource? The API key appears to be hard coded, because I do not have one.

On a related subject, I signed up for the APIXU free service but when I select the APIXU option, how do I entered its API key?

Probably just me, but it may be more clear if the error message(s) made mention of the "Alternate Source" as being the one that is invalid.

Thanks much for your quick support.

Do these Weather downloads look right to you? Neither OWN nor APIXU show any forcast info. Am I looking at this wrong?

I remove the text box for Accuweather key. It is 2.19.1.2 on mcsSprinklers.com using same convention as prior version.

All other license/api keys are in the section for weather source, including APIXU.

Forecast is only downloaded for the selected forecast source. You have Accuweather selected for the forecast. APIXU/OWM was selected for current weather conditions.

Thanks langenet, I believe you are correct. I was interested in what Michael does. Currently I am using OWM for both the Weather source AND the Forecast source, but I don't know if there is any advantage to using different services. In my case, most of my (current) weather data for mcsSprinklers comes from my weather station, so mostly here I am interested in the most reliable "forecast" service/setting(s).

                          Thanks

I was using WeatherUndrerground last year for both. Now I am using OWM for both. It has worked well for me. It seems to be the most friendly provider. APIXU does have usage limits.

Thanks Michael. Hopefully WUG will get back in the game sometime soon. My Weather Station reports to them so it would be good to have them as a source again.
