mcsSprinklers Updates and Revision Log

    2000 to 3000 would look to be a good value based upon what is being observed. The long string of no acknowledge looks more like the signal seen by the Rain8Net is of poor quality and many times it does not see the data from the PC as a valid 3 byte sequence. If you have some options to change the electrical connection then that would be a good step. A different serial adapter, improve routing/shielding of wire, use serial/ip to reduce the wire length are some ideas. The percentage of no response shows you do not have a reliable setup at this time.

              Is there any chance for Linux support with this plugin?


                mcsSprinklers runs under Linux with the visibility in HS via mcsXap plugin. This is the configuration that Pete from this board has been running for a few years. It runs with RPi fine, but the browser response is slows. Any of the other Linux platforms that have a little more horsepower that Rpi do not have the browser slowness.


                  ProcessUPBCommData error?

                  I have been seeing this lately. Any idea what is causing it?

                    At the lowest level it means that a line of data was received from PIM/CIM and that line was too short to have any valid data. If you have debug enabled then all data received from the serial port is logged so it may be possible to see if a pattern exists to understand why.


                      I've recently upgraded to the latest MCSSprinklers plugin in HS3 and my log is filled with:

                      Do I need to install some sqlite3 dll or something?


                        You have likely found the answer already, but yet sqlite3 is used by mcsSprinklers. In the initial HS3 it was also used by HS3, but it seems HST has gone a different direction. for supporting the underlying database.


                          Hi. I'm very interested in using your plugin. However, my system is controled by 6 relays and not by a rain8 or whatever. Is there a way to make the plugin control independent devices, each connected to a single relay? That would make the plugin really universal.


                            Rain8 failure?

                            Hello Michael,

                            I very frequently (almost daily) have this error: " Zone F12 has been declared failed after multiple attempts due to timeout for expected response". I have also seen this error sometimes at 12 midnight when the system does a daily off safety.

                            I also get this error on occasion for other zones every couple of weeks or sometimes months.

                            I am using Rain8 2-Way X-10 and mcsSprinklers version V2.13.0.3/ (Professional). Is there a newer version that might fix this problem.

                            Do you think this repeated error could be due to a bad Rain8 module? Seems like that might be the case since it's almost always F12 that fails.

                            (I also sent you a pm through your web site with the same question)

                              Issue Following Windows 10 Upgrade

                              Hi Michael,

                              After my recent upgrade to Windows 10 (Home edition, 64-bit), the program will open but won't communicate. I downloaded the latest Prolific USB to Serial driver, but that had no affect.
                              I run a UPB stand-alone system with (2) piggybacked Rain-8 modules.
                              Below are the error messages I receive:

                              9/1/2015 3:23:31 PM | Version | V2.14.0.1/ (Professional) Copyright 2004-2014 mcsSolutions Running at C:\Program Files (x86)\mcsSprinklers
                              9/1/2015 3:23:34 PM | OpenRain8UPBPort_Port 7 Line 0 The port 'COM7' does not exist.

                              Any help to resolve this issue is appreciated.

                                It looks like you have a RS232 driver issue. Prolific is at the low end of the spectrum and software support lags that of FTDI. I think your best approach is to get a FTDI-based USB/Serial. In general being on the leading edge of PC technology is counter to the needs of Home Automation.
