I think this is mostly because Bluetooth stacks are not tested for a heavy repeated usage (like the plugin does, asking for new discoveries every few seconds)... and if there is a bug or the slightest memory leak, after a while the BT stack goes south...

I understand. I think the reason is what I wrote above:
-
I did some more testing with another device (my Aplle Imac) This device works oaky if I enable and disable the bleutooth stack. But the iphone never gets connected after the first disconnenct. So I think my iphone is the problem, however I have no problems with my bluetooth carkit.

Before putting more money on hardware... did you try other polling methods (maybe Connect Service instead of Discover Service, or better auto-discovery if you can).
The Widcomm stack is well known for problems... I don't really advise going this way, because the Widcomm support policy is not good (Stack updates are only available through dongle vendors, and this means they are close to never available in reality).
Many times when a plugin user reported a problem with the plugin, I did open a ticket or post a message on Franson's support forum (Franson Bluetools is the commercial Bluetooth library the plugin uses)
Each time I got the same kind of answer, such as the Widcomm stack is buggy, and that he (Franson) couldn't fix or workaround so many bugs in the stacks
I'm a bit stuck with this lib ... there has been many improvements and stability fixes in the last few versions, but it's still not as stable as I would like it
I think this is mostly because Bluetooth stacks are not tested for a heavy repeated usage (like the plugin does, asking for new discoveries every few seconds)... and if there is a bug or the slightest memory leak, after a while the BT stack goes south...

Doesn't work. My iPhone doesn't even connect from time to time. It is too unstable for me to depend on it.
I think I'll buy an other dongle. Any suggestions for the combination Iphone 3g and a Vista HS server. And preferable the widdcom stack, because of the range features.
Thanks,

It may be a bug in the Bluetooth library the plugin uses.
I just checked the support forum for this lib, and as you are using BT Connector 2.48.2.2, you are already using the latest lib.
I suggest you increase the "lost confirm" parameter for your devices.

Random connects and disconnects
Hi,
See the log below. My phone (iPhone) is laying on the desk (4 meters from the dongle) and I get random connects and disconnects.(see first part of the log)
I'm using Vista with the standard Vista bleutooth drivers and the latest version of the plug-in. I'm using a HP bleutooth dongle.
And often after a while the phone doesn't connect at all anymore. Stop and start the plugin resolves this (see second part of the log)
Any idea what might cause this ??
