    Version 1.5 Issues

    Version 1.4 Issues:
    1. If you unplug a reader while HomeSeer is running, the computer will crash with a blue screen (BSOD).

    2. [25-Nov-06 - Issue closeddescription below] Occasionally readers will stop responding. In our system we will usually lose reader #1 after one to three weeks.

Users that have installed inexpensive USB extenders have seen this problem more frequently. [17-Oct-06 edit: Kvebo has a modified inexpensive extender that has been working. The lost reader issue is not tied to USB extenders]

    3. Trigger Value Issue

Is v1.4 the first version you have seen this problem? Is this with no USB extension?

      Thanks

The first lost reader issue first surfaced in version 1.2 when multiple reader support was added. Our test system does not use USB extension.

Thanks. Can I assume then that you feel the lost reader issue is in some way related to multiple readers? Or, is it possible that the issue existed in verions prior to 1.2 and you simply did not experience that problem in your lab?

          Thanks

Multiple reader support required using a different AuthenTec API. It was a significant change. Version 1.2 also upgraded to a newer AuthenTec library. After these changes many reliability issues were reported on the forum. Version 1.3 downgraded the AuthenTec library to the version used in 1.1, improving the lost reader issue, but not eliminating. We believe 1.2 introduced the lost reader issue, but this has not been proven.

Our multiple reader test system has been running for over a month without losing a reader. We tried different combinations of USB ports and readers and found that the issue follows the front USB port of the test computer. The back USB ports are tied directly to the motherboard. The front ports have an extension cable from the motherboard to the front of the PC. The theory is that this extension cable is causing the intermittent failures, similar to the USB extenders. Colleagues of ours have noted similar problems with front USB ports and other USB devices. We are going to consider this issue closed unless it reappears.

                Biometric Door Lock

Is there anyway that I can use this plugin on other biometric door lock set?

                Regards,
