    very slow shutdown?

Is anyone using this plugin seeing very slow shut down times for HS (about 2-3 minutes). When I exit, the CPU goes to 100%, and HS and this plug in are the only two apps still open (all the other plugins, and homeseer phone shut down fine). After about 2-3 minutes, the plugin will go away, and immediately after that so will HS. The symptoms tell me it may have something to do with this plugin.

Let me know what you are seeing.

    Thanks

    Jay Fro

    Current Setup:
    Homeseer

    Win2K Server
PIII 450mhz, 1GB Ram (unfortunately my Mother Board only recognizes 256mb of it)

Strange - mine takes about 2-3 seconds to shut down. Does it make a difference how lng HS has been running when you shut it down Jay?

I have observed that the Hauppauge developers OCX has a memory leak when the CapPreview form is loaded and unloaded. I've asked Hauppauge support about it but support from them is not very resposnsive at all.

It seems to be just about every time (about 80% of the time). Doesn't matter if it has been running for 1/2 hour or for 10 days.

Not sure it is even the plugin, just trying to track it down.

Jay if you look in the task manager when shutting down HS what processes are taking CPU resources (click on the CPU header in processes tab and the list is sorted)?

Homeseer is. Wondering if it is having trouble closing the plug in, or completely unrelated to the plugin. May just be coincidence that your plugin is the last one to shut down and doesn't close until after this long delay.

After alot of testing in try to get the plug to work again. I removed and reinstalled the plugin multiple times and have found HomeSeer to be unstable on shutdowns and startups with the plugin installed. 10% of the time on startups HomeSeer will not startup all the way unless I do a reboot and If I get errors with the Plugin I have to power off my computer with the power switch.

Can you try to re-register the plugin to make sure HS is invoking it properly.

              - shut down HomeSeer
              - open a Command prompt
              - change the working folder to c:\Program Files\HomeSeer
              - type the command HSPI_HAUPPAUGE_CAPTURE.EXE/REGISTER
              - start HomeSeer

Let me know if that affects the slow shutdown/startup problems.
