  • Need help opening plug-in.

    I have windows 95, (I know, I'm a dinosaur!). I downloaded the plug in, saved it to disk, tried to open it, but my computer wants to know what I want to open it with. I have no clue. I keep getting an error message that it can't find my houselinc so I figure I need this plug-in. I've had no formal training for computers. What I do know I've learned through trial & error, there's a lot I don't know & things like this throw me.

    Phil,

    After you've saved the plug-in to disk, you don't need to open it. HomeSeer will open it for you.

    In the HomeSeer "Options" screen, set the "X10 interface" and/or the "Infrared interface" to "HouseLinc", then select the COM port that it's attached to. There are no other options to set.

    Then, shutdown HomeSeer and restart it. It should now find your HouseLinc. If you're getting a message "HouseLinc is not responding", then you may have the wrong COM port number.
