    InControl on SageTV extenders?

I just came across this plugin and I'm pretty excited about it. I happened to be showing my wife one of the promotional videos for the new Kwikset Z-Wave deadbolt and in the video they showed the Kwikset control software that allows you to control your house through your TV with your TV remote and of course she asked why can't we do that?

I figured that since I already use SageTV which is very customizable (and just recently upgraded to version 7) that someone else must have had the same thought, so I did a bit of searching and found this.

I'll be trying to play with the trial version when I get home from work in a few hours, but until then I had a quick question. Will this work on my extenders as well as on the actual Sage server or only on the Sage server? I have one HD200 and two Media MVP's right now. I also have one laptop running the Placeshifter client and I'd love for this to work on all of them.

    Thanks,
    Brett

Thanks for the question. Yes, this will work just fine on the HD200 (which I have and tested) and I see no reason why it would not work on Media MVP's (although I have not tested it personally on those).

The best approach is to install and make sure it works on the Server first. Then try from the extender. At least for the H200 (and probably the MVPs, but I am not positive), it is really running Sage from the server and will get the same plugins as installed on the server.

This is in beta now while we work out testing it in more environments, but it has been working good for many.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply. I'll let you know how it goes with the Media MVP's as soon as I get it working. However, I can't seem to get it to connect.

I've installed the plugins in both HomeSeer and Sage. I restarted Sage and added the HS machine's IP address and changed the receive port to 10992, since I am running Sage as a service. I restarted once more and tried to validate my settings, but the Sage plugin continues to insist that they are invalid.

I did notice that it is contacting the HS machine because I can go into the config options for the plugin and I do see the Sage Server listed at the bottom with the correct IP and Port. The "Last Message" field is blank. If I delete that sage server and try to validate again it puts the server back with a new ID number.

I've gone throught the steps in the troubleshooting FAQ without sucess. Any thoughts or suggestions for me?

      Thanks,
      Brett

One more quick note. I did verify that I could telnet to port 10990 on the HS server from the Sage server and to port 10992 on the Sage server from the HS server, so it's definitely not a network or firewall issue (I don't have a software firewall on either machine anyway)

        Thanks again,
        Brett

          BrettS,

It seems like you have the settings correct. Can you enable the Sage Log (Setup/Detailed Setup/Advanced/Debug Logging)? Once you do that you will need to restart Sage (and the Service) and try the validate again. Then exit Sage and compress/send the log to me. It should be named sagetv_0.txt or sagetvclient_0.txt. This will help me see what is going on.

          Thanks!

Well, shortly after my last post life got busy and I didn't really have any time to work on this. I was on 1.1 at the time, but I just upgraded HS and my Sage server to 1.3 and everything seems to be working now. HomeSeer was kind enough to extend my trial license so I can do some testing before I purchase.

            Thanks again,
            Brett
