AAG Weather Temperature below zero for Mitch

    Hello Mitch,
This is an old post and as the MW temperatures have dropped I am seeing the same with current version of TEMP08 software.
    Pete

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Mitch, just noticed that my temperature sensor on the weather station is currently reading at 253 F when in fact it should be reading somewhere below zero. (also have a OmniPro II plus temperature sensor outside). Reference my info to first piece of this thread regarding current version of software. Changed temperature readings to Celsius and that sensor is showing -18.69 C which is: -1.6 F . So application looks good at Celsius but not working at Fahrenheit. This error is playing havoc with my temperature graphs. Just reset (powered off and on) Temp08 and now indicating a temperature of -255.53 F. Reset it a second time and Temp08 went to same minus reading of -255.42. Is it a decimal issue too? Now when I change to C it indicates -19.82 C which is really -3.7 F. Currently temperature just went to right below zero and it is reading correctly.

Looking at the temperature graphs this morning and seeing an accurate reading the problem seems to happen at 0 (zero) and not below it. I am seeing readings of -1 to -10 fine and plus 1-5 fine.

    Pete,

Are you using v2.06 of TEMP08?

      Hello Mitch,

I am using TEMP08 v2.02 2005-08-20. Will 2.06 fix temp glitch? Will it also let me put AAG, Rain Guage and Lightning sensor all on the same wire? I currently have Rain Guage on a Temp05 with some temperature sensors but would prefer it on the Temp08.

V2.06 fixed a bug reported by a user in the UK about problems at reading zero degrees C. Not sure what is causing your other issues though. Can you elaborate?

          Hello Mitch,

I have AAG weather station, hobby boards lightning sensor, 2 temperature humidity sensors and 2 temperature sensors on TEMP08. These are connected to TEMP08 via separate CAT5 cables. If I add the AAG Rain guage via a separate CAT5 run to the Temp08 I get errors on lightning sensor or AAG weather station. I have rain guage connected to a TEMP05 and it works fine. On the Temp05 I have only 3 more temperature sensors run via separate CAT5 connections. At one time (last year or around the time I added the lightning sensor) I was able to get rain guage to work with all of the other devices on TEMP08 by adding one device at a time. If I lost power to TEMP08 then I would have do this procedure to get it to work. I have since put the TEMP08/05 on alarm panel power supply of 12VDC. This past summer though with an increase in lightning activity the rain guage/AAG weather station/Lightning would drop off-line / get misread and I would have to do my process again to get it online. A couple of times I had to clear all "ERA" and a few "ZZZ"'s, reset clock to get TEMP08 to work again. The clock would show some weird numbers.

            Pete,

Out of curiousity, before you had to do an ERA, did you happen to notice if the ID's stored in EEPROM were corrupted? If you do a DIS display and get a "NG" instead of a "OK" for the serial number this would indicate a memory corruption.

Interestingly you appear to be running in a pure star configuration. Are you using 100 ohm resistors on each DQ leg? This would have nothing to do with the restart problem you describe, but would answer some questions in another thread.

Hello Mitch...Its been a while but this past summer something appeared to be corrupted in the Temp08 after a storm. I did an ERA several times and I couldn't bring back the devices. I noticed that the time was posting some wierd value (don't remember what that value was but it didn't resemble regular time). After I set the time then all of the devices came back. This is when I moved the Rain guage off of the Temp08 and moved it to the Temp05. I currently have a 100 Ohm resistor on the AAG weather station and Lightning legs of the star. I have 6 other temperature & temperature/humidity combos set up on the Temp08. These do not have a 100 ohm resistor. It would be beneficial to put the Rain Guage back on to the Temp08. I only have two wires connected to the AAG weather station (so there is no additional power going to it). I would like to split up my configuration a bit to put only temperature sensors on the Temp05 and put all of the other sensors on the Temp08. IE:

Temp 08 would have AAG Weather station, Rain Guage, Lightning, and Temperature Humidity sensors.
Temp 05 would have all of the rest of the temperature sensors (and later on add the Temperature Humidity sensors.

I have made it very easy to change my connections by connecting both devices to Cat5 telephone Patch panels. (1 to 8) and wiring the devices to two 8 device patch panels. This way I can just jumper each device to the appropriate Temp0X device. I will post a picture of what I am talking about. I had not completed all of the TEMP05-08 connections when I took this picture.
