  • wiring question for XB10 to gas fireplace

I have an old TX10 (not XB10 as in title) thermostat that I want to hook up to a gas fireplace. The fireplace is currently hooked up to a regular thermostat that has 2 wires and a mercury switch. The fireplace has a fan, but it's not directly controlled by the thermostat, since it's heat activated within the fireplace.

So how do I wire the 2 wires to the TX10 thermostat control unit? The CU has the following connections:
    - R 24 VAC
    - G Fan
    - W Heat
    - Y Comp
    - O CO

I am thinking that I want to take my white and black, and connect to the R 24 VAC and W Heat connectors. Is this right? Does it matter which is which?
