Sip Connector for faxes

I have searched the forum but have not seen any mention of this.

Is it possible to recieve a fax over IP?

Not sure if there is even a windows based fax software on the market that can recieve a fax over the internet?

Just curious if this has been discussed at all.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can receive a fax with the standard SIP protocol and voice codecs. It might work using some codecs with no compression such as PCMA/PCMU, but it won't work fine.

I think you ned to use another protocol such as T38.

Oh well...just a thought. This would have completed my home office answering service but I will just have to stick with the old phone line.
