    Funnily enough this came today...

    <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Hi all,

I have uploaded some desktop faders for James' xAP Desktop to the files
area here. These work (only) with the new xAP BSC v1.3 schema for dimmable
(level based) devices. eg if you are using C-Bus or HomeSeer with the latest xAP
plugin or the BSC13 version of the xAP X10 connector .

(All level based Homeseer devices are controllable)

Please read the accompanying notes file. There is both a single large fader and a
quad lamp fader that use nice dim graphics that change brightness and
the sliders move & can be set in realtime. Any change in the level of
the devices cause a fade up of the display.

        Strange coincidence that

Here is a picture of the two different fader implementations floating over an XP Desktop - actually over the Yahoo Groups window.

They can be moved and have nice transparency effects. You can also see the edge of the xAP Desktop TV display too. Stargate SG-1 was on Channel 4 - hmm missed that! These faders can directly control or track HomeSeer devices eg an X10 light using the xAP plugin - likewise that TV information can automatically create HomeSeer devices that update in realtime with the TV program changes. Oh - and they (and xAP) are free :-)

Hi Tim - indeed you can - xAP Desktop uses standard jpeg and gif images to build up its displays. These can incorporate transparncy as well. In the single lamp fader for example I use (from memory) six images the bulb, blue slide, green and red endcaps and the red slide marker plus a transparent click area over the blue slide. I have a set of bulbs of different brightnesses and in the settings.txt file I select one of these based on the xAP information on brightness within the BSC messages. I also move the X/Y position of the slider appropriately. Likewise I intercept clicks on the images to translate them to brightness setting commands.

Take a look at the xAP Desktop Guidesand it will set you on your way. Also examine the individual settings.txt file as this contains all the bits that make these work. This will be in the particular display folder slot that you chose to load the sliders into. As well as the basic building and actions of the display objects you can even use scripts too within xAP Desktop (in VB) such that you do most anything you want.

xAP Desktop is very much a 'dashboard' floating over your Windows desktop for you to create widgets that interact with your own HA world.. You can even add active widgets on top of other screens eg over web pages or within the HomeSeer control pages. They can be made to appear and fade/dissapear and even move around all under script control.
