secu16 relays for 24vAC?

I know that according to the information here:

the secu16 relays can do .5 amp DC, but what about 24vac at .5 amp? Someone told me I could use the secu16 to function as a thermostat, replacing the RGYW wires, but i'm pretty sure those are AC, not DC.

I have personally found that the Secu16 relays a bit weak for most things, I use the secu16 with external relays to control most things including my heating system.

Am i reading it right? does it say it will switch up to 110vac, or is that something else? My problem seems to be the "inductive load" issue.

ordered the rain8net, going to give it a try, after talking with the wgl guy on the phone, he seems confident it will handle the inductive load. i'm only about 75% confident, but i'm also 95% confident the inductive load is only on the dampers and not on the thermostat connections, so i will be able to use it at least for that.

I know you already ordered, I usually just use the Elk 912 relay's connected to the secu16.

They are cheap and easy to wire to the Secu16.

Just get a bigger relay from Radio Shack that has a 12VDC coil and strong contacts and run your HVAC through that. I can help.

I read 240 VAC, 24 VDC, 5 A. Where does your inductive load come from? What exactly are you trying to switch? It sounds like a motor of some sort.

yup motor in hvac dampers. 17 of them, then i need 3 24vac non inductive relays, to call for heat/fan/cool

check out this place for relays. I bought a bunch of extras when I needed relays. The price is usually pretty good.

If you already have an Ocelot setup in your system, why not just use an RLY8-XA relay unit?

I have one of these units and they have heavy duty Potter-Brumfield relays installed in them (contacts rated for 120 volts at 10 amps).
