    Device setup problems

New user, using the trial for HS and the HAI plugin.

Simply trying to get my zones, therms and units (all being ALC) into HS as devices. Using the latest beta (1.1.59). Latest HS.

After failing in my attempt to have the plugin create units/names automatically (received a ton of duplicates), I went into the ini to set them up manually. Got them all in and they are perfect.

Result - Zones and my 2 termostats show up great. Seem to work great (getting unknowns at times but I think I can fix this will polling calls). No ALC units at all.

I went into the config and changed the bUseDev_Z, bUseDev_T and bUseDev_A to True. Zones and Temps created just fine. No ALC devices at all. I tried it with all True (the others not listed like _U) and same result. The event log says it detected an ALC unit on the panel OK. The name, when I edit them, show up properly. I have no NoALCDevice entries in the ini file.

Using the web interface, they show up fine.

I have to be careful because when I go into editing the names, if I save them there, the duplicates get back in there - so, I can only edit them in the ini file. That isn't the main problem - I am only wanting to have my ALC devices show as HS devices. I can workaround the other one.

Any information on how I can get these ALC units to show would be appreciated. Thanks,

    rileydogmi,

Having devices created to represent things in the panel is NEW for the plug-in. This plug-in always worked without devices in the past and is only now adding that ability so that plug-ins such as Main Lobby, TouchPad and Media Center can interface with it more easily.

I suspect there is just a bug in the code when it comes to creating those devices, and the lack of people stepping up and saying "Hey, I have ALC lighting" so I can test things is part of it.

Unfortunately I had to table the work on the HAI plug-in until HS 2 is farther along. I will see if I see something obvious (e.g. quick fix) and if not, it may be a while before I get it fixed. It *might* help to create a debug log, level 4. I would enable it when shutdown in the INI file, or enable it using the screen and then shut down, delete any old trace logs that may be there, then restart so it will capture the whole startup routine. Once it says startup is complete (triggers and conditions active) then you can turn off debugging and send me the file.... HAIPlugIn.log is what it is called (or OnQPlugIn.log)

FYI... I just checked and although there could be an error in the code yet, I wanted to mention that three things must happen for it to even try...

      1. bUseDev_A is True (you said it was)
      2. It detected an ALC controller (you said it reported it did)
      3. The number of X10/ALC devices to use is > 0 - did you make sure of this setting in the panel limits configuration?

        Strange

I think something is broke - I have debug of 4 and it says it detects an ALC unit - I confirmed all your suggestions - the X10/ALC limit is 256. I set only the bUseDev_A to True and now nothing is created... Setting zones and temp to true works - I get them.

I completely removed HS and reinstalled it and the plugin alone - nothing else. Same result.

Rats - was really looking forward to using this with my Main Lobby - how long do you think until this can be looked into? My trial expires 5/1.

Can you confirm that you added bUseDev_A to the new hspi_HAI.ini file and not the old settings.ini file? Notice in the log where it cited the conversion to the new INI file - I want to make sure that it has that setting in it.

What won't take too long is that I can add some debug statements in the procedures that are creating the devices so I can see what is happening, and then I can answer you as to whether or not I can fix it quickly. I will try to get a new beta build out shortly with that change.

I just confirmed that the entry was in the config file - I am no longer getting that warning upon starting up HS. Looking forward to the beta!

              Solved!

For the benefit of the community, Rick determined the problem was in the PC Access setup. The default for the house codes are "Extended" (Under Setup, Misc option) - You need to make sure these codes are setup as standard to be recognized by the plug-in.

              Works great now!
