    Help File Link Correction

    Folks,

There is an update coming to the updater shortly for the HAI and OnQ plug-ins. The change made is with the updater installation package, but to bring it to everybody's attention I changed the version of the plug-in as well. The 2.0.0.19 version of the plug-ins is essentially the same as the 2.0.0.18. (Same for the beta release).

What has changed is this - at some point, and I do not yet know when, HomeSeer became picky about URLs having forward slashes or backslashes. Thus, the links= entry in the settings.ini file that was added for the help file used the wrong slashes.

Here is the problem - the updater commands are not sophisticated enough to have the ability to remove an entry from a key as complicated as the links key in the file. (Links is added to by several plug-ins and packages.) Thus, the installation of this new package will result in two links to the help file, one that works, one that does not!

If you use a menu system such as DooMenuBar instead of the HomeSeer links, then you are effectively unchanged as you probably already corrected the link error when you added the help file link.

To correct the duplicate link problem, you can edit settings.ini. This is best done with HomeSeer shut down, but you can make the change while it is running if you so desire, just remember to make the change quickly so that information written to the INI file by HomeSeer is not overwritten with information that is too old!

Find the key "links=" in the file. After the equal sign will be several links that have been added by plug-ins and script packages. Somewhere in that line you will see a link entry that starts "HAI Plug-In WebHelp=" or "OnQ Plug-In WebHelp=".

If you have already installed this new version, then you will have two of those entries. REMOVE the one that looks like this:
    Code:
    HAI Plug-In WebHelp=\HAI System Plug-In\WebHelp\HAI_Help.htm
If you have not installed the new version, then simply remove the one shown above, and then install the new version and it will add the correct link entry.

The links entries are separated by commas, please be sure to leave only a single comma between the link entries that may be on this line.
    Regards,

    Rick Tinker (a.k.a. "Tink")
