RadioRA COM Port Error for Vista/Win7

My old server gave up the ghost, and I've transferred my HS2 to a new machine with Vista OS. I've got it all working again EXCEPT RadioRA.

I'm connected to the RS-232 interface with a USB-Serial convertor (no option as the new machine has no COM ports). The driver is installed and working. And I can communicate and control the RadioRA system through the RS-232 interface using HyperTerminal to that COM port (COM7). And this was the same USB dongle used on the prior XP machine.

However, I can't get HS2 to control the system. It keeps getting errors trying to initialize the COM port. Here are the debug log errors upon HS2 init and an attempt at plugin reinstallation/reinitialization:

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thanks, in advance.

Can you change the port to a lower number and try it again?

      Thanks for the quick reply...

Same errors on the lower port (COM3).

Strangely, if I run HS2 in a virtual machine on the same machine (the VM using XP OS), I can use either COM7 or COM3 without a problem. So, I know it's not a connection issue. It must be a Vista/Win7 issue for the RadioRA plugin (possibly a COM error).

I've also tried running HS2 in XP compatibility mode (both SP2 and SP3) and as administrator. UAC is turned off.

The RS-232 interface does get some sort of connection (it flashes the correct "rc" code) upon initiation of communication by HS2/RadioRA plugin (both COM3 and COM7), but the connection still fails on the HS2 side.

      Any other ideas?

Does it work on a Vista or Win7 server without the VM loaded?

No, it has the above errors on a fresh install of Win7 and on the new Vista server (not a fresh install).

But I have the program completely working in a VM (XPsp3 OS) on the same fresh install of Win7.

And, as noted above, I can use HyperTerm to access and control the RS-232 controller in the regular, non-VM Win7.

Seems like it must be some COM/OCX issue with Vista/Win7. Does the plugin usually work in a fresh Vista install?

Given no answer for 5 months on this topic... I have changed to a completely virtualized XP implementation, bypassing the need to run on another more modern OS. Getting all the COM and USB interfaces virtualized and interfaced to HomeSeer was the biggest problem, but I've solved them all.

Sadly, no joy for the support response after the initial quick reply.
