    wpad.dat - - What is it?

I'm getting these error messages every so often. Anyone have an idea why or what wpad.dat is? It sure is not in my \html directory?

    HTML Code:
    12/9/2010 2:30:32 PM - Error - Web Server Error 404, cannot serve file: C:\Program Files\Homeseer HSPRO\html/wpad.dat

Looks like it's some type of proxy file used by a network protocol. Did you load any network plugins maybe?

same as a .pac file Proxy Auto-Configuration script. You should be able to open it in an text editor and see what configuration is being pushed. Basically tells the browser how to handle certain requests. If your browser is set in it options to Automatically detect network settings, it will try to locate this file and load the config. Pac files can be loaded many different ways however.
