    Homeseer PCI modem issue

    Hey Guys,

Getting my system put back together and I am having issues with the modem.

I am running HS on a windows media center computer. Modem installed and I can dial out on the modem through xp if I create a connection. however in HS when I try and start it up, it says:

The process cannot access the port "COM " because it is in use by another process.

Nothing else running on the box that I know of that would be access the modem.

    Any thoughts
    Kirk

Can you open the port using Hyperterminal or other similar program?

Secondly, try setting the modem com port to a number less than or equal to 4 if it is currently 5+.

Media Center allows one to display caller id. Did you configure it to do that?

Even if you didn't purposefully select the option, it is possible that MCE has opened the port to the modem. It can not be shared with HomeSeer.

I have used hyper terminal before, but not to connect to a modem. What is the process to do that?
