"Max connection limit of 5 reach...

    ...Client connection refused."

I get this message about ever other day. I only have the PC with the Designer connecting and 2 iPhones. Max connections I could have are only 3. Log always shows the iPhones Disconnected after closing app.

The only way I can find to get my connection accepted is to shutdown HomeSeer, and then restart HS on the Server. Then I am fine for another couple days.

Any suggestions as to what's causing this and how to prevent it

I think that you're on the 5 connection license. You may want to upgrade to the unlimited license. Don't recall off hand how much but you can check in the store.
HomeSeer 2, HomeSeer 3, Allonis myServer, Amazon Alexa Dots, ELK M1G, ISY 994i, HomeKit, BlueIris, and 6 "4k" Cameras using NVR, and integration between all of these systems. Home Automation since 1980.

I only have the 5 connection license and haven't had any troubles with connections even though at times I've had all 5 going.

Either way if you only have 3 possible connections it shouldn't be limiting you, especially if you can see in the log that it's not being held up and has released. You may want to use That support link and see what happens, maybe somebody is out there.

If you shut down the designer do you have an issue?

                  Yep...

Designer is only running when I am designing something. When it happens, none of the three devices will connect and I just have to shutdown HS, then restart HS, then everything works again. I'm not sure if Designer have ever been open when I have got the "Max connection limit of 5 reach. Client connection refused." message.

I have the same issue and it is most likely a bug. I have an iPhone that is only used for HStouch. I leave it on all the time. The HStouch client periodically disconnects and reconnects to the server. It appears that the server does not release these connections and creates a new connection, using up a license and memory space.

I haven't had time to open a ticket. This problem identified another issue for me since I have unlimited with HS Pro, but if I leave the iPhone connected for a week solid, HS becomes very unresponsive but not enough to trigger HS Sentry so I have to manual reset the system. For now I exit the client to help this issue.

I had the same issue. I am only running one touch screen, the HS Albatron. HomeSeer log shows this same device connecting with multiple port numbers (or maybe connection numbers), then shuts it down. I just have to reboot the Albatron when I need to use HSTouch. I believe when I updated the Client software on the WIN CE device, and the HST Server application, and HomeSeer2, this problem went away. It still disconnects occasionally, but reconnects on it's own later.

What version of the HSTouch software are you running? If you are not running the latest you might want to upgrade - Server 1.0.0.42 - Designer -1.0.0.57

Using one win client, 1 android (this is the problem client ) and 1 designer.

The message should say if the client limit was reached, so you would know if that was the issue or not. It goes through all the connections when a new connection is made and removes old ones. But make sure you are running the latest HSTouch Server plugin.

                              Same problem here.
I had no problem so far but since I have changed the connection on the homeseer server from WIFI to Ethernet using the same IP address, I reach regularly the max connections.

And I have only 3 clients.

                              Please help.
                              Thank you.
