    Mystery of insteon.ini file

I read your strong suggestion that we "make a backup of your insteon.ini and homeseer database before upgrading." I cannot find the insteon.ini. I can get into the linux tools and run an "ls -l" and thus obtain a files list. I am unable to change directories at all. I really need some guidance as to how to conduct this routine using the "Linux Tools" that are part of my menu when i use Google Chrome to log into my Home Seer device which is the " HS3 ZEE S2 Edition 3.0.0.368".

Here is the listing I obtain from the "ls -l" command:

The Insteon.ini file (along with the configuration files for most plugins) is in the Config directory.

Thanks but I can't CD into Config

I can see the Config folder when I run "ls -l". Yet running "cd /Config" or "cd/root/homeseer/Config" or any other combination does not seem to get me into the Config folder to see its contents. I'm sorry to bother you but the people who run Homeseeer tell me "look in the forum" for every answer.

        have you tried "cd /root/homeseer/Config"

you need a space after the "cd" command

i don't know the folder structure below /homeseer/

          Yes

Yes, I have tried cd /root/homeseer/Config.

After that when I run "ls" or "ls-l" I still get the same root list as I indicated above. Or if I run "dir" I get the same root list except it is displayed in two columns.

based on the results from your OP, you should be about to use "cd Config" to get into the config folder. no slashes, and the folder name is case-sensitive.

if you can't get in, them i guess you don't have access to the folder.

please ask HST, if its a permission issue, then nothing we try will work.

Using "Linux Tools" will not get you into those folders. Every command is entered 'from' the HS folder. So, to see the contents of the Config (or any folder, really) is to use:

                  ls -l Config/*
                  or
                  ls -l /usr/local/HomeSeer/Config/*

                  Hope this helps...

                    Thank you

Thank you very much for that guidance. Using your syntax I am able to see a gigantic string of errors for at least the past several days. The substantive question now is how to replace the line that MNSandler suggests in the Insteon.ini file. He maintains that this will eliminate the disfunction between HomeSeer and the Insteon Hub, if I read his posts correctly. I seem to have lost connection to the insteon hub most recently at around 2 pm yesterday afternoon.

                      System Re-Set: Temporary Solution

Once I could see my logs I could tell that communication with the Insteon Hub stopped around 2 PM yesterday. At 9 AM today I ran a system reset on my entire HomeSeer system. Once that reset was accomplished, my Insteon-based events began to function again. I will monitor how long this solution lasts. If change the one line in the insteon.ini file is really the solution than I hope that someone from the cavalry will let me know the steps necessary to make that change.

Must restart whole system at least once per day

One or more times during each day I must restart the entire HomeSeer system in order to enable the insteon plug-in to function. If I do not find a solution to this dilemma I will no doubt choose not to purchase the plug-in at the end of the 30-day trial period. I wish this were not the case.

i don't know if you have a text editor on the system

do you have the ability to download the insteon.ini file using ftp?

if so, shutdown the plugin, download the file, edit it, and upload it

                            Mark,

install the latest beta 3.0.6.24. i changed the default to 2000 (ie no need to edit the insteon.ini - i didn't know it would be such a problem on a linux installation. I'll make this is UI field in the next version.
