Plagued by insteon errors

    Plagued by insteon errors

    Mark,
    I have been getting many errors recently and have no idea how to resolve them. quick history:
    Feb-Mar - many strange database errors involving most plug-ins, so I restored a database that was known good and all seemed ok
    Mar 7 - installed ver 500 for now mobile app
    Mar 12 - many errors again, updated to 520 after reading other posts
    Mar 18 - many errors again
    Mar 19 - restarted HS3
    Mar 20 - insteon errors, indicative of previous errors
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I have no idea how to resolve this issue.

      Ok,
      I copied some of the beginning of the log, it went from 6:08am to 9:39 - huge! so I didn't want to include it all.
      In the meantime , I have to find out why I can't include attachments.

        what is device 4A 46 AE ? it seems to be flooding the PLM.? And do you have an insteon tstat? is that working correctly? the "Error in RaiseGenericEvent:" usually means the link between the thermostat plugin and my is broken

          4A 46 AE is a motion sensor II. It has been sending false occp triggers. I am going to reset it to factory default. Is there a way to monitor the device after the fact to see if it is behaving?

          Yes, I do have a thermostat and it is working correctly.

            the plugin doesn't have any specific logic for "monitoring" devices for health. That would be an interesting feature if we could figure out some simple logic to do that.

            please post other recent/frequent 'error' message from the hs log

                these are typical of errors that I have been experiencing off and on. typically they seem to resolve themselves and there never seems to be any problems with any events/devices not working after the fact.

                  i wonder if this is related to the version of hs you are currently running. clear out old insteon error log.txt files so you don't run out of disk space.

                  i would recommend stopping all plugins, and start with just the insteon plugin running and see how it goes, and then startup one additional plugin

                    Thanks, I'll start with the thermostat. these errors seem to develop only every few days but when they appear, it seems everything is affected one way or another.

                        I almost posted some good news yesterday, but decided to hold off until today. Glad I did because it went nuts again early this morning. I had tried dropping first the thermostat, then arduino PI's with no success. After 4 days, the errors came back. I contacted support and they had me first disabling AVG antivirus, and when that didn't help, doing a repair install. That was the 27th, so again it held for a few days,then the errors were back again this morning. Today, I installed 3.0.0.528 at support's suggestion. If that doesn't work, the case will be escalated. I'll post when something happens, hopefully good. To me, it almost seems that a file or memory location is getting filled over time and when it gets too big, things go south, but again, I have never noticed anything strange with either device status or events not running properly.

                          UPDATE: In case someone else has similar problems. It turns out that Defrag was the culprit.
