nope, but went ahead and tried. no dice. I did some searching through past posts, and remember the issue with the change to Https. I'm able to connect directly to the hub over http, but not able to via https. Maybe something in the latest Hub update? Tried switching back to http, but that didn't seem to work either.

in order for the plugin to connect to the hub, you need to use the username and password from the bottom of the hub. you can't use any creds you create via insteon app. you only need to enter 192.168.1.35:25105 as the port in the plugin

the plugin uses http (not https). https isn't supported at all (plugin or broswer)

for me, when use a browser to my hub, i use the following url, with the cred on the bottom, and get the following details. i'm also able to get the plugin to connect a well with the same setup.

        http://192.168.1.83:25105/

So going back then to what I had posted originally, I can login via the browser to http://192.168.1.35:25105 (set via DHCP reserved) with the user name and password I changed for the hub itself (the one on the hub doesn't work and not the Insteon account ID). I try using the exact same user name/pwd that I use in the browser for the plugin. This has all been running exactly as the current config for a couple of years. The only changes being my hub replacement a couple of months back and the recent migration of HS3 to a new Server 2019 VM. The network is flat anf have no FWs inbetween outside of the host (which I set rules for and even disabled during testing). I'm going to run some network traces when I have a chance to see what's actually happening between the VM and Hub, but at a loss outside of that...

any special characters like a quote (") or dink (') in the username or password that might be throwing off the plugin? i'll interested to hear what you find with the network traces.

mnsandler Finally was able to do a little further digging. By no means a network expert, but have pretty good experience and at a loss here. Not sure if it's some kinda filter on Hyper-V or something else that justs weird. I quickly stood-up HS3 on a Windows 10 device on my network, and the plug-in was able to connect fine. I stood up a couple extra VMs (both Server 2019 and 2012R2) and same issue with the plug-in. I did capture a network trace and seeing that the VMs are connecting to the HUB, not sure if the full url is right but attaching. Any thoughts, I must be missing something, probably simple.

it seems like an issues with the http protocol stack within the VM

within the VM, are their options on the network setup? I know in Virtualbox you can connect to the network multiple ways. I have successfully tested my plugin/hub using linux on a virtualbox as well.

I know others are running homeseer, and my plugin on an VM (even from amazon), so it can be done.

all that said, i don't know how to direct you. other than to search the forum for others doing the same thing.

ok, I got it. I remembered that I had dynamic NIC teaming turned on for the Guest VMs. As soon as I moved 1 to passive, it connected right away. Must be something in the way dynamic load balancing works.
