  • Transfer from HS2 to HS3 insteon.ini?

    I've recently upgraded from HS2 to HS3. I have about 120 insteon devices, which is why I avoided the upgrade for so long. But after my old HS2 server started having problems, I went through the entire HS3 manual load process which took about 8 hours. After upgrade realized I was using the default HS3 insteon plug-in instead of the mnsandler insteon I had used before. My question is whether I can copy all the device info out of the old insteon.ini file (generated under HS2 using the mnsandler insteon plug-in) and use it in the new insteon.ini file. The headers don't appear to be exactly the same, but I'm hoping the detail sections are at least compatible. Manually adding the devices again would probably keep me from enabling the mnsandler plug-in. Maybe I could just copy in DeviceID, DeviceName, DeviceLocation, DeviceType and FirmwareVer? Once the new plug-in recognized that the device existed, I could have it read all the links...

    Any help would be appreciated. Shown below is the device section for one device in the old HS2 insteon.ini:

    there is another thread in this forum about another user who had to rebuild his insteon,ini because he lost his entire hs server and didn't have a backup. I think he was successful.

    also include in each [device x] section
    Protocol=2
