Silly question? (ethernet -> USB adapter)

I'm going to start my HS journey next week (upgrading from ISY)...

The small, fanless PCs I am looking at all lack serial ports. I already own a PLM2413S - would an ethernet to USB converter work?

    No,
It should be using a special serial cable on one end is like a RJ11 or something. But you can look around for a USB to Serial and connect to the cable you already have. I think if on Windows you first have to install FTDI drivers (the instructions should come with the converter cable)

Didn’t figure it would be that easy! Thanks.

        It really is that easy.

A USB to serial adapter will work. You will also need the black cable in the picture below to adapt the the PLM2413S to fit the DB9 plug on the USB to serial adapter.
