    Cannot change LED dim level on 2466S and D toggle switches

    Any idea why I cannot make the little white LED change brightness level on some Insteon wall toggle switches and dimmers using the MS Insteon Plugin? Some switches will change dim or brightness level, some will not. I cannot change any plug in module red/green LED dim levels.

    please post the devicetype= line from the config\insteon.ini file for the devices in question. i need to see the 4 digit code

      "does the led on/off setting work?" Are you asking about Operating Flags LED On*/Off? If yes, I don't know what that is for, or how it works.

      DeviceName=Backyard Pond 3 Floods - INST
      DeviceType=011F
      EEValues=LEDBrightness=31,DefaultOnLevel=153,DefaultRampRate =27,OpFlags1=96

      I have LED Brightness set to 9 yet the value above shows 31. I used the dimmer switch manual device button pressing sequence to dim the LED to less than blinding bright.

        the value saved in the ini doesn't match the value you see on the dropdown. this is by design.

        the Operating Flag will turn off/ON the LED completely. can you test it?

        maybe this device 011F doesn't use the same commands to set the brightness like other dimmers

        i dont have specifics on this device; i use a general routine that works for most.

          I tested the Op Flag LED On/Off setting and it does go off and on, no problem.

            the following is the dimmer version
            DeviceType=011F

            the relay switch version will have a different DeviceType, please post

            i dont have an 011F to test

            can you enable Detailed Logging on the config page and then do the following:
            1. read the links and settings on the device, and post a hs log snippet of that transaction
            2. then set the LED Brightness, and then post an hos log snippet of that transaction

            i need just the log entries generated during the two transaction

              the closest i have is a DeviceType=021A which is a relay switch. I can dim the led on that device.

                  this very helpful thanks.

                  can you do one more thing and read the settings one more time (and post the log snippet); i want to see where the switch actually put the value you set; if anywhere

                    I did exactly what you asked (which did not include setting the LED level).

                      thanks again. when i check the settings results (before & after) i do not see the expected change in LED Brightness byte

                      Can you check the pdf manual at the below link, and set the LED brightness manually. Then reread the settings and find the log entry similar to the one below. the first set of numbers underlined should be the same, the rest will be a little different. Please post this log entry.

                      this might help me determine where the LED brightness value is actually stored.

                        I found several STX 51:

                        The manual LED dim level does not work as described in the PDF manual and it is difficult as heck to get any LED to dim to where I want it. It is sort of a crap shoot because the LED does not dim as you flip the toggle up or down. You have to guess what level it is at and set it. Trial and error. All the 2466 switches I have are like that so either the doc is out of date or they all don't work right.

                          Hey Allen,
                          thanks for the additional info.

                          the first entry from above is the one i was looking for. If this one was generated after you manually attempted to change the led brightness then i think we are stuck. It doesn't show a change in the byte that i'm expecting.

                          If the LED on/off works, that may be your only option with this switch.

                          I have a feeling the LED Brightness setting may only work on switches that have LEDs up and down the left side of the rocker switch.
