Alexa commands not working correctly-southern accent issue?

When I ask Alexa to run "Everything Off" it will sometimes it turns everything off correctly (all lighting) but other times, it turns everything ON! Not sure why? Any suggestions?

can you post a pic of the event setup? Is "everything" your phrase or something built into Alexa?

You are right. She doesn't do "Southern" very well. I gave up trying to train her (Bless her heart.) and stooped to checking to see what she actually heard (and that can get pretty silly). So, I have commands like "We're up||We are up||where up||where are" just to let her know we are up and about. She is challenged with correctly understanding "On" and "Off," but I haven't found a very usable workaround. I guess you could substitute "bright" and "dark" (or the like) for "On" and "Off."

It's not a Alexa phrase. I did name one similar "work" and it seems to work fine.

On and Off are alexa commands typically used on a Group/Device/Switch, etc. I wouldn't put those words in the Event name.

An event cannot be turned on or off, just run.

can you try renaming Everything Off to Shutdown Everything? basically removing the On/Off command/word from the name

          curious about the following:

Do you have any other events or devices with the word 'Everything' in the name? this might confuse Alexa

What actually turns On when this accidently happens?

Every insteon light in the house....and outside. I think you are right...I'll change the verbiage....see if that works. I do have one called "Work" that turns all off except it won't turn off my TV/Home Theater even though it's listed.
