Problem installing Insteon support through Updater

I tried to use the Updater to install the 0.2 version of the Insteon plug-in, but keep getting a status message of "Pending Restart." I'm running HS as a service and have tried stopping and starting it several times, as well as rebooting the computer several times. I've also tried Cancel Pending the pending install and tried doing it all over again. Still, no luck. I previously did a manual install of the plug-in using the directions originally posted in this forum. The 0.1 version of the plug-in is working, I can control both Insteon and X10 devices, but I would like to keep the plug-in updated. Any ideas on how to proceed?

    Thanks

Many items will require HomeSeer to be updated as an admin rather than a service, and this plug-in is one of them. Just start HS up when logged in as an admin and follow the prompts.

Thanks Jon. I followed your instructions and was able to successfully install the plug-in (Finally got HS 2.0.2041 to install as well). I added the 0.5 update to the HS directory and everything seems to be working fine. I'm using a Powerlink V2 USB 2414U controller. Do I need up update the firmware in this device using the PLC Utility Function, or is it updated as part of the InsteonBasic initialization sequence?

      Thanks

If your unit seems to be working fine with the plug-in then I would just leave it alone, as the core app is running. If you get the "blink once per second" LED issue or you stop getting responses back from the switches then you would want to update it.

I'm not getting the "blinking LED" issue, but what I am getting is an inability to poll for status from the Insteon devices. The status always comes back "Poll Requested." I selected the detailed debug logging option and took a look at the output and noticed that there were instances where the plug-in did not receive a response from the device. I tried completely re-setting the PLC, re-downloading the SALad interpreter, and reprogramming the addresses in the PLC. Nothing seems to change the behavior. I have full control of all the devices from HS, just no status information. I've also done the usual drill of rebooting everything. Since you have already mentioned in another thread that there is a known issue with Insteon's Device Manager DLL relating to this issue I guess I'll just have to wait until they issue an update. Thank you for the support you have given.

Post the debug log here, I might be able to tell you what is happening.

I have to admit to a bit of operator error on my part. I did not realize that the status information displayed for Insteon devices on the Polling Devices page has apparently been changed. It used to display the actual status for Insteon devices, but now it only displays "Poll requested." The information on the Status page seems to be correct. At any rate, prior to your response I reinstalled the coreTimerApp directly from Insteon's Device Manager application and verified that Insteon devices were reporting status correctly. I started HS back up again and seem to be getting correct response. One anomaly I see is that if I unplug an Insteon device and poll for status the status does not change in the Status page. It stays the same as when the device was plugged in. I would have thought the status would change to Unknown or something like that. Here is the log file for the event where the Insteon device has been unplugged. Just prior to this I turned it on and then unplugged it. After Polling for status, it still is displayed as ON 100% event though it has been unplugged.

When the core app is corrupted you can control lights but you can't get their status (or send or receive X10).

As soon as the SDM gets fixed I can put polling back into "immediate" mode where the plug-in waits for a response. Right now the SDM is broken so the plug-in lets the SDM do it in the background. The one problem is that when the poll fails the SDM does not tell the plug-in which device failed, so the plug-in can't set the value to unknown.

Do not download the default core app from the SDM into the PLC. It is not a fully functional timerCore and will cause problems.

Thanks for the feedback, Jon. Actually, I downloaded coretimerapp05b, the same version the plug-in installs. At any rate I re-downloaded the core timerapp SALad from the Insteon configuration page in HS just to be sure I had the correct version installed. Other than the issues described earlier, it seems to be working fine. Thanks for the effort you have put in on this plug-in.

Just checking, the downloadcoreapp default app in the SDM does not have the needed functionality. There is a newer timercore app from SH but it doesn't offer anything new for the plug-in.

At any rate I re-downloaded the core timerapp SALad from the Insteon configuration page in HS just to be sure I had the correct version installed. Other than the issues described earlier, it seems to be working fine. Thanks for the effort you have put in on this plug-in.

I understand, however I didn't download the default. I followed the instructions documented over in the Insteon Developers Forum for installing the 1.1.1046 version of DM which, from what the documentation states, installs timercoreapp05b. Anyway, I'll stick to using the coretimerapp update that is included with the Plug-in. The plug-in is working pretty good right now so I'm not going to fuss with it.
