    2486DWH8 KPL not registering properly

Just received a new 2486DWH8. I have tried to "Tap" add and manually add, but it registers as a 6 button instead of 8 button.

    Any thoughts?

    sonny, this is typical.

once you register it, there should be an option of the device edit page to set it to an 8 btn. if the plugin already thinks its an 8 btn, then set it to a 6 btn and then back to 8 btn

      I can't find the 6/8 button selection.
Please see attached screen shot of the "Edit Insteon Device" page for this device.

      I am currently running:

Just found the 1.4 so I have:
Insteon Configuration - Hybrid Plug-In v1.4.0.0 In PLM Mode

I deleted the device shutdown HS reset device to factory default restarted HS and manually added device. Still no 6/8 button.

Sonny, please post the device sesction from the insteon.ini for the device in question.

in the meantime, you should still be able to set the 6/8 mode using the kpl keys. see the smarthome manual.

                Sonny, please try the following

shutdown hs. then in the ini section you just posted, change the protocol=1

the restart hs and reread the links and settings and see if that fixes the device edit page

I followed your instructions, no change.
Next I deleted and manually installed the device. I shut down HS deleted the links and set links to 0, set protocol to 1 restarted HS and reread the links. Still no change and no 6/8 button.

sonny, forgetting about the 6/8 config btn for the moment, this ini section looks right.

                        the fptype=2 in the EEValues key indicates the kpl responded correctly to an i1 cmd. if the kpl responded correctly to an i2 cmd, we would have seen an opflag1={some number}

so you should see Channels 1-8 on the device edit page

i don't think this device is fully i2 compliant. i'll have to do some research with SH/SL.

I don't think you should use a dimmer switch on an inductive load like an appliance or fan. it will burn out the switch over time. this is probably why the first one doesn't work anymore. Smarthome does have a relay on/off KPL for this.

did you get me email with a new build to try

                              Hi,

Just to let you know that I have the exact same problem with my 8 buttons KeypadLinc that I've installed last weekend.

I tried to set the kpl in 8 buttons and re-read device links whitout succes.
