How do you send an email using Insteon device status as a variable?

    I found this here http://www.homeseer.com/support/home..._variables.htm

But I can't seem to make it work, I tried $$DV: and $$DS:. My Insteon device for example is 21.FF.AA. Under address in HomeSeer it says 21.FF.AA:1.

I tried doing $$DV:21.FF.AA:1 but didn't work, tried without :1, tried with no periods, I can't get it to work at all, it always just emails me exactly what I wrote there. Thanks!

If you want to use the device address it is $$DVAaddress): for the Value or $$DSAaddress):
    for the Status.

I find it easier to use the device ReferenceID which is the first number on the Advanced tab. For that you would use $DVRref): for the Value or $$DSRref): for the status.

this won't work because of a bug in HS. it doesn't accept a colon as part of the "address".

these are called replacement variables. try one of the other formats. see below
