    loosing registration

Having odd behavior when Jowihue is loosing registration every 10-15 minutes. On my phone with the Hue app I still have full connectivity, its only the plugin loosing it.

Any ideas how to fix this? I have tried factory resets several times but it continues to happen.

further testing finds the cause is using a dimmer switch to toggle the hue lights on and off via the plugin rather than the clunky native hue interface.

For some reason this is causing a system wide reset of the bridge. All my other devices do indeed loose connectivity as well, however the devices remain in the unit. A quick repair results in things working again until the dimmer switch is activated.

      mystic860,

Sounds very weird to me.... Will test this tonight here also. could you explain what kind of event you have to respond to the dimmer switch? As the plugin is creating and updating the device, but is not involved in execution of events itself as it is a device trigger only I guess? Maybe post a hard copy of the event so I can check on my installation as well?

      Thanks,

      Wim

        Mystic,

Tested an event here, which is triggering on any change of the dimmer device. This does not cause the plugin to loose registrations or other errors. I hope you can add some more information on your event?

        Thanks,

Hi Thanks for getting back to me .... I have no idea what is going on, now it just deregisters on its own. I configured the log to debug and to a file, fired up the plugin, pressed the button on hue to register and several minutes later it we deregistered again. Here is the log. Doesnt tell me much. Not clear if it will be useful or not.

would it be useful to delete this file and start over? Does it create on its own?

              mystic860,

Do not delete this file. This is not the cause and the plugin is not creating this file from scratch...

Could you pleae stop the plugin. Then do not do anything else but delete the bridge devices in HS3. Leave the lights intact as well as eventual sensors you have.

When you have deleted bridge devices, start the plugin again. It will either just create a new bridge device and run fine, or it will ask you to register the bridge once more. From there it should be stable again.

              Let me know what happens?

              Thanks,

the log above was pretty much those exact steps. Before you responded I completely deleted the plugin and all residual files. Reloaded and am waiting to see what happens.

                I will advise outcome.

                Thx - Ken

Its likely to early but early indications are that the plugin reload may have fixed it. still monitoring however all my events are firing and things are still registered.

Ok, well into the next day and I have been using it quite a bit and all is well. I think the plugin DB got corrupt or something and the reload fixed it.

I appreciate your willingness to jump in and try to help as you could with the limited info I posted. You have a class A plugin here and are a good developer to stay involved with your followers.

                    Thanks again!

                      mystic860,

Best confirmation you can get is in restarting the plugin. I hope it is stable now, otherwise I will need to get a bit more information.

With which version did you start using the plugin? Or if you don't know, when did you start using it, I can then trace back issues that might have been lingering from the past

For now, glad to hear it is working!
