I cannot confirm from personal experience, but internet rumor has it that Tuya has closed the exploit on their firmware and loading new firmware OTA via Tuya Convert will no longer work. For the near term at least this does not matter to me since I have done the conversion with all my devices. The manual method of opening the device and doing a serial convert is always available for the ESP8266 devices and the ease of doing this is a function of the product itself. Some will require tack solder and some can be done without soldering with dupont or similar contact pins.

Here just returned a Tuya outdoor web camera that I was testing with the Amazon Alexa Show. It was way too slow for me. Never got beyond configuring it.
