Adding a publish topic to mcsMQTT device inhibits manual control

Add a device from a new topic using “a”

From the Edit Status Text menu...
    • Remove the analog value range
    • Add 4 Single Values
    • Enable Status-Control both

    1. Device properly can be manually controlled from Home/Control buttons
    2. Device properly can be controlled from incoming MQTT messages
    3. Device properly can be controlled from Event

Add a HS Device Outgoing Publish Topic

ICK... device CAN NOT be manually controlled from Home/Control buttons
    1. YES... Device properly can be controlled from incoming MQTT messages
    2. YES… Device properly can be controlled from Event

What am I missing??? Please help. LZH

I think it is a similar scenario as you experienced before. McsMQTT does not know you changed the device properties in HS so the next time you edit the device in mcsMQTT it will undo what you tweaked. Morale is that you should so as much as you can in mcsMQTT and then if you want to tweak something directly in HS you can.

The other thing I noted from your post is that a number was in the payload when you associated the device. To get the four states you want then the Edit tab Controls Status UI should be set to button if you want buttons in HS or List if you want a selector. Then edit from the Edit tab the VSP states. This is all done in mcsMQTT. You do not need to go to HS to tweak these.
