Sonoff/Tasmota ... has there been a MQTT change.. Old devices vs New Devices?

    Michael,

After two casual days I am frustrated. This question is very oblique, but possibly you have some insight.

Question: Tasmota.. has the MQTT message structure changed from several years back???
    1. Can not get my new S31 devices to be recognized properly at HS3.
    2. Have several OLD Sonoff/tasmota devices operating for 2 years.
    3. So... unplugged two EXISTING OLD working devices and attempted to DUPLICATE with proper flashing into S31.
    4. Did not change anything in HS3, so everything should just work as with the OLD devices?
    5. New Sonoff with OLD definitions will not operate with HS3
    6. Press the ON/OFF in HS3... no action at the Sonoff.
    7. Press the Sonoff local switch, no change in HS3.
    8. Sometimes I see the MQTT strings arrive, but NO action.
Has there been a subtle MQTT communications change that I am missing as I define the new DUPLICATE devices???

Or is there something new in HS3 that I need to match to the NEW Sonoff S31???

    Thanks for reading LZH

Does the Tasmota User interface allow proper control ?

Are you seeing all topics created in the association table?

Did you add the "cmnd" control in the publish topic?

Can you share a screenshot of the Tasmota MQTT config (from the UI) ?

In your Tasmota configuration for its MQTT setup are you using %prefix%/%topic%? I use %topic%. What did you use on the old S31?
