Change Poll Interval Dynamically

I have a Modbus EV charger and only want to poll it when car is connected- I get this point from Tesla PI. I need to poll at 30 seconds or charger watchdog reduces charge rate- this fills up logs when not connected.

Any way to dynamically change/ pause polling interval- either globally or ideally per device?
