UPBSpud Stops responding.

    UPBSpud Stops responding.

    I just finished a clean HS3 install and configured everything and I keep getting the following in the log after a couple minutes after starting HS. Things will work for a couple minutes and then all UPB lighting commands stop responding. Not sure what is causing this.k

    System is running on a Windows 10 computer

    I just noticed this error message:

    Starting up....
    11/22/2018 6:53:52 AM ~!~Error~!~Warning, Cannot load EXE file (possibly missing dependencies) HSPI_UPBSpud.exe: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.Warning, Error details with EXE HSPI_UPBSpud.exe: Could not load file or assembly 'UPB4CSharp, Version=1.0.1.8, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

    I've tried removing the plugin and reinstalling it but that doesn't seem to of had any impact.

      Have you installed the plugin from the updater?
      Do you have UPB4CSharp.dll in bin/UPBSpud?
      If you have also this dll in the root folder or in bin, delete it.

        I have UPB4CSharp.dll in bin/UPBSpud

        There is no other copy of the file in bin or the root folder.

        I downloaded and installed the plugin from the PLUG-INS menu tab at the top of the HS user interface.

        In the Plug-in Status on the Installed Plug-ins section the following error message is displayed:

        CRITICAL: Failed to get InterfaceStatus from UPBSpud: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

          I have no idea what could be the problem.
          Can you load other plugins?
          Could you post all the logs you get when you enable the plugin?

          If you want me to have a look install TeamViewer or similar and send me the credentials at spud.webb.4@gmail.com

            I have the HS Z-Wave plugin installed and working properly and UltraM1G3 which also is working fine.

            Here is the complete log since the last restart of HS up to the point the plugin failed. The log entry at 4:37:55 PM never executed and then the plugin failed.

            I'll check in to TeamViewer
            I'm also considering starting all over the reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything, but I'd prefer not to do that.

              Could you set the log level to Debug from the UPBSpud config page, and then restart the plugin.

                Below is the log with debugging info on. I noticed the error regarding COM4. That is correct because it is the same setting that UPStart uses and that functions without any problems.

                  Do you have UPStart runnning? A COM port can be accessed only by one program, so you need to shutdown UPstart when the UPBSpud plugin is running.

                    I know you can't have UPStart open at the same time the plugin is running.

                    I have noticed with debugging turned on the plugin seems to be in an endless loop constantly repeating the following line:

                    Plugin UPBSpud is not responding but it is still running, not restarting yet.

                    Even if I disable the plugin it says it has been started remotely and it continues looping the same message. The log fills with thousands of these entries and the only way to stop it is to completely shut down HS.

                    I've installed TeamViewer and am available any times for you to see if you can identify what might be the issue. Let me know when you are available and I will send you the access information.

                          spud - just wanted to follow up on the status. I replaced the PIM with the one you suggested and have been successfully testing for the past few days. That appears to have been the cause of the issue. The system has been executing events without fail and there hasn't been on instance of it freezing up. I appreciate your help with this.

                            Thanks for the follow up.
                            For others reading this, David was using the UMC-DB9 from SA with an additional Serial to USB adapter, this is not supported by this plugin even if it works with UPStart. If you need a USB PIM go with PIM-U from PulseWorx.

                            I have updated the user guide with the list of supported interfaces
