    SPUD/UPB file access

    Hi Biff Here
I am trying to move the upb file from upstart to the home seer /spud file with no success ...so far this is what I have completed
1- set up on a windows 7 server
2- installed HS3 pro soft ware
3- installed both HAI & Spud upb plug-ins
4- completely set up and tested HAI and Alexia and can control HAI lights no problem (works great )
5-set up UPB file in upstart enrolled UPB switches and scene switches file is fully functional from the server
now all that's left is the exporting the .UPE file in to the spud file , I have the serial port identified (port 3) and it works
    using a PCS/USB PIM
when I go to the upstart file to export the program states "file has exported " I can see a "UPB File in the drop down but no .UPE file to move in to the import bar
if I try the import file option I get no file imported or can not read file

any help would be greatly appreciated /remote access is available if anyone would like to show me what I am doing wrong
    Thanks Biff
I am based in ph. AZ

If you click on the round 'UPB' symbol in the upper left of the UpStart window, then select Export, then Select 'Export to File' you should be able to give the file a name and select the directory where you want the upe file to be placed. I chose the HS Config directory. After you click on 'Save' the upe file should appear at the location you specified. If you select the option to export automatically when you close UpStart, then every time you make changes to your UPB network, the upe file will be updated with the changes and the plug-in will import them when it restarts.

Hi it looks like the file went in to spud the port that was working no longer is working , will try other ports , Think I need to reboot the system for it to complete the changes ?
where will the UPB switch information show on Home seer ?

You should not have to reboot the system to complete the changes.
The plug-in will create HS devices representing your UPB devices, you can see them in the Device Management page, see User Guide

Hi Spud it looks like the file is loading ( about 137 switches ) so it may take some time
the port that was working ( port 3 ) states it is not the right one now do I need to Chang this for the down load to complete ?
thinki am really close to getting this to work
          thanks Biff

The plug-in and UpStart should be set to the same Comm port. Check which port UpStart uses, then setup the plug-in to use the same one. (You need to disable the plug-in before you start UpStart so that it can access the port, then close UpStart so the plug-in can gain access to it again when you re-enable it.)

              Hi Uncle Mike
so I have not been able to make the UPB PIM run yet
              here’s what I have done
              1- disabled UPB spud
2- confirmed upb is working from the server on port 3 ( reread program )
3- disabled the UPB program from the pim
4- made sure both com ports are pointed to port 3
              5- enabled upb spud
              nothing
screen says invalid serial port: com 3
              any ideas ?

You have to enter "COM3" in the config page, as in the screenshot of the User Guide

what I meant is that you have to enter "COM3" in the field not "3" or "com 3" or anything else

just check that you can control some of these devices from the device management page.

yes, shutdown the UPBSpud plugin, add your switches in UPStart, export the .upe file, then restart the UPBSpud plugin
