HS4 started sending All Off X10 Signals via CM15A on new devices [Resolved]

Has anyone noticed that some time relatively recently, if you create a new X10 Device using the CM15A Appliance setting rather than Standard, whilst it will send a unique device Unit On signal, it now sends an All Off signal now to the whole House Code for the device rather than an individual Unit Off.

If you change the CM15A mode from Appliance to Standard, this seems to rectify things, although you then get a dimmer control for an appliance that isn't really needed (and can be deleted of course).

I don't create many X10 devices very often these days, so this could have started a few months ago - but all my recent devices do this - mostly on House Codes E and F, although that may just be coincidence. It certainly didn't used to do this.

I just wondered if anyone knows whether this is a recent bug that arrived with an update?

    1) The plugin you are using: X10, CM15a Windows or CM15a Linux CM15A Windows
    2) The version of the plugin you are using 3.0.0.13
    3) The X10 interface you are using CM15 USB-PC Interface
    4) Which version of HS you are using HS4 Pro Edition 4.2.7.0
    5) Which operating system HS is running under (Windows or Linux) Windows
    6) A description of the issue An On command from HS4 sends a unique House Code and Unit Code On, whilst an Off command sends the House Code followed by All Units Off - X10 traffic monitored via Stargate WinEVM Mega Controller message logging window
    7) A list of steps that will reproduce the issue Add a new X10 Device via the plugin - with various house/unit codes using the Appliance Setting.
    8) Any troubleshooting steps you have already taken Switching from Appliance to Standard setting using the CM15 Tab after the device has been created resolves this.

Markrat Can you describe how you are 'sending' the Off command that is instead sending the 'AllUnitsOff' command? Is this from an event or just commanding the device Off? If from an event, please post a screenshot of the event details, including the X10 command.

Also, please enable Debug mode (on the Plugin Config page) and then perform the following:
      1) Command the device ON from the UI
      2) Command the device OFF from the UI
      3) If from an event, manually execute the offending event
      4) Post all of the log entries for these actions

Enabling debug mode will include additional info in the HS log when the plugin interacts with the CM15a and will help me understand what's going on. You can turn debug mode off once you've finished this testing.

      Thanks!

        mfisher Thanks for the response.

I am not at the house again until the weekend unfortunately, but this occured when the device was commanded from within an event, and by using a direct device command.

I was only actually aware that this was sending an All Off command as I was looking at the WinEVM log window I use to check on what Stargate is doing at the same time.

The event concerned commands several X10 devices to go off, the others behaved as expected, just the "new" one went awry.

I have since rectified the "new" one by changing the type to "Standard", but I'll create a "new" X10 Appliance at the weekend, activate debug mode and send you the results.

I can try this whilst remoting in this week, although that occasionally produces odd responses in itself in my experience! So it might be Saturday before I can get a reliable debug log report.

        Thanks again.

          Hi mfisher

          I hope you are well.

Having created two new X10 devices (O5 as an Appliance and O6 as a Standard unit) I can no longer appear to be able to replicate this issue even though this happened several time on four different Device Codes previously.

HS4 will have restarted every 24hrs since then mind you, and Stargate rebooted at least once, so maybe that in itself rectified whatever it was?

I ran the tests as you requested - with O5 and O6 being commanded manually and then via an event (with a 10s delay between the O5 and O6 commands written into the event in case you're wondering why the apparently overlap), and on both the debug log (pasted below) and the Stargate logging window, all appeared to work as expected.

I am sorry to have wasted your time with this - should I have a repeat occurrence I will run the debug log and try and catch it then.

I have checked whether this changes depending on whether the Stargate X10 settings for these are set to LAMP-X10, CONT-X10, APPL-X10 or LAMP-EXCODE but it makes no apparent difference to either the HS4 log output or the Stargate log, so I've run out of ideas for now.

Apologies again for this - Mental note - leave things at least a week in future to see if they resolve themselves BEFORE contacting anyone else!!

          Kind regards,

          Mark

Markrat No worries and I'm glad it's not a persistent issue. Let me know if it ever surfaces again and I'll look into it further.
            Best regards,
