GetConnection error Access to...Z-Wave2.db-journal - Solved!

For about 2 months now I've noticed a series of errors on HS3 strartup:

Apr-07 12:01:31 PM Z-Wave Error ERROR, Z-Wave Data object 0 failed to be updated or added to the database.
Apr-07 12:01:31 PM Z-Wave Error GetConnection error Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HS3\Data\Z-Wave\Z-Wave2.db-journal' is denied.
Apr-07 12:01:30 PM Z-Wave Error ERROR, Z-Wave Network 01850A9C failed to be updated or added to the database.
Apr-07 12:01:30 PM Z-Wave Error GetConnection error Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HS3\Data\Z-Wave\Z-Wave2.db-journal' is denied.

This was with the current .190 Z-wave PI.
    - Based on some older forum discussions I deleted the Zwave2.db database file and restarted...made no difference.
    - I went back to a late December 2017 HS3 backup (with the Wave PI that came before .190) ...made no difference.

Although I've noticed the error, all Z-wave devices seemed to still be working properly...that is until I noticed an Aeon device not reporting. I did a "rescan" and it came back with:

Apr-07 12:29:22 PM Z-Wave Warning There were errors generated during the save of the database item. Please consult this log for more details and report any data loss to HomeSeer Technologies.
Apr-07 12:29:22 PM Z-Wave Error ERROR, Z-Wave Network 01850A9C failed to be updated or added to the database.
Apr-07 12:29:22 PM Z-Wave Error GetConnection error Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HS3\Data\Z-Wave\Z-Wave2.db-journal' is denied.

    Any ideas?

Try backing up and then deleting your Z-Wave2.db file as well as the journal file.

Thanks Rupp... well I did delete the Zwave2.DB file several times ...but the "Journal" file only appears momentarily and disappears instantaneously...no way to delete it, unless its somewhere else?

Like I said, I even went back 4 months and that didn't help either.

Are you running any anti-virus software on your server? The journal file may be getting locked by the AV and showing these errors.

Solved...don't really know how or why, but solved

          Thanks Rupp,

Tried it with Norton turned off, that didn't solve it.

Then I deleted both the Zwave2.db and the HS3.HSD files and restarted ...and promptly lost all of the Zwave devices

So I next deleted the whole Homeseer HS3 directory and restored from the same backup I had tried earlier...

And now everything is back, everything works, no errors, no warnings...good as gold. I even upgraded the Zwave PI back up to .190.

Ok, that was weird; but at least I'm back up and running at 100%!
          Regards,
          Chris
